Of course the suspension is fair. If they don't have an automatic suspension for leaving the bench, then players would leave the bench all the time. |

the suspension does begin immediately. it's just that there are no regular season games till October. who cares that Clarkson can play tonight? it doesn't benefit anyone. |

Perhaps the 10 game rule specifically calls out regular season games only? |

I think Garth's well reasoned analysis covers things. No need for you to add to the trolling Ek. - Canada Cup
yeah garth did a great job |

Of course it's fair. How is there any discussion? The rule is clear; leave the bench to engage in an altercation, and it's an AUTOMATIC 10-game suspension. Nothing else needs to be discussed about it. |

That is the whole issue with him. To be clear it's every homer not just the TML's. |

I guess this is the case. So if he couldn't play the pre season games as well it would have been 13-14 games suspension....must be clear rules about this somewhere...
I think Scott was waaaaaaay out of what was OK, but how could the Leafs ever get away from the fact that he entered the ice as a 13th man..
Suspensions in preseasons game is nothing..hit them where it hurts. And that should go for the Vancouver guys as well...and whoever else is suspended.

Nice of Ek to chime in 2 days late without realizing that it's 10 regular season/playoff games. Therefore, he can still play preseason. |

If the players abide by a "code" it would be unthinkable that Scott would do what he did. On the flip side, why would you take the chance? its an argumentative loop, that wouldn't be exhausted if the regular season had already started. Come on puck drop! |

actually I agree (as a Leaf fan)... its an automatic suspension.
there should be more of this category of ruling...
i) in the crease for our Buffalo brethren... perhaps they might have won that cup if the call was automatic
ii) high sticking ... perhaps the Leafs would have eliminated Los Angeles and not given Wayne is ill-deserved chance at another Cup
iii) franchise relocation.... there should be automatic rules for franchises who's owner's fall below a certain level of insolvency, or if they repeatedly lose money
the league needs more of these automatic rules... because they do such a good job of accommodating the unusual circumstances that arise...
there is one good thing that comes of out this... we don't have to listen to Shanaban attempt to explain the "ruling". |
