I agree -- have concerns about his knees holding up and whether three years is one year too long, but have doubt he'd give his all and elevate his game in the postseason even if playing through injury.

Great stuff as usual Bill, and happy (belated) birthday. Mr. Cleary sure gave you one hell of a mystery to solve, didn't he? Bizarre, even by Flyers' standards.

The joys of twitter.

Why the hell people cant just wait until things become official on websites like TSN, or whatever is beyond me. Knowing 3 hours early apparently is orgasmic these days.

Too much is constantly made of these "rumors".

do the flyers need cleary? ill tell u that i would not sacrifice a promising youngster's spot for cleary, not at this point in his career. i think he would be better on a team like edmonton or colorado that could use a winning veteran presence amongst the forward to play with the kids.

Needing sleep after a long day and with start of Flyers training camp to cover in 8 hours. But as the late, great Mitch Hedberg used to say, "I haven't slept for 10 days... because that would be too long."

And, with that, off to bed for a few hours. Good night, all.

I'd be okay with Cleary for one reason.

He is a winner, who knows what it takes, and plays the game the right way.

There are still many young forwards on this team, including Giroux imo who could learn a thing or two from players like Cleary. I'd welcome him in, and hopefully that winning attitude, rubs off on the players of this young core that still need to be groomed.

Haha right on Bill. I be missing at times, during the lurking, the crazy times of HB.

Take it easy hooligan, keep up the good work, shoot hard, and shoot 5 hole.

They don't need Cleary and it is looking more and more like they don't need Holmgren anymore either.

I agree with you on getting Cleary on board. He was fantastic in the playoffs last year and is a solid leader, similar to Lappy but there can only be one Lappy.

Cleary is perfect for Schenn and Couter, he can help develop those kids into solid pros. To me the Flyers tradition has always been to outwork the opposition and Cleary is an example of hard work. Would have preferred a two year deal but okay with three years.

im just saying, i think some if not many flyers fans may change their position on Cleary after seeing him play. i know he has a reputation amongst other teams fans. I view it as the same way other teams view Franzen.

Definitely a Boon, especially when contrasted with Bryz's kindergarten level puck-handling skills.

Speaking of Bryz, is he the new Waldo?

I'm ok with his 3 year offer more so than Vinny getting 5 years

wonder if he used Philly to get Detroit to budge on $$$ or term?

Guess we'llfind out ina few hours if Cleary is going to be a Flyer or not. Nothing is ever easy in the Flyer Zone!!

On another topic: Bill, how would you rate Laughton's chances of making the final roster?
