so the sabres are willing to trade vanek and pay a good chunk of his salary and they are either going to name the player they are willing to trade and pay a good chunk of his salary or Ott as captain

bridge hodgson. small number 2 centers are a dime a dozen. he definitely has some offensive potential, but his skating looks average to me, and his play in his own zone is just awful. kadris deal sounds perfect for hodgson. incidentally, when i was driving to work today i caught the buffalo sports morning show and they asked why gms are not offer sheeting these rfas. its a very good question- of course the easy answer is collusion. i dont want the sabres giving up their first rounders in 14 or especially 15, but you have to wonder why another gm wouldnt give up a first and a third for kadri or hodgson. the 2014 pick for buffalo could very well be a top three pick and i expect the sabres to be a little better by the 2015 draft, but im not giving away my ticket in the connor mcdavid sweepstakes just yet.
