I don't see Ramo or Berra being the guy most are hoping. McDonald had a decent year last year and I expect he'll end up being the best of the three. We'll see.
Cammy is giving the standard response. He wants out though. And he is a douche....sorry Whip but its not just habs fans that think that. They should dump him the first opportunity they get.

They should be feisty though as they will have a lot of you guys that want to show they can play in the NHL.

Don't agree, Macdonald is a career replacement goalie with a .903 save %. When Kipper went down he was fine but to think we are moving forward as him as #1, not! Ramo will be the starter & Berra is going to give both Ramo & Macdonald a run for a spot on the team. I think the Flames would be insane not to run with Ortio & Brossoit in Abbey. Either one could come up on a call up. But one of Berra, Ramo or Macdonald probably need to move on when the season starts.

Good Blog Colin.

Chad Larose and Johan Hedberg should get PTO`s, couldn't hurt..

- Byfuglien Ate Me

Thanks!...Larose might be a good insulation guy depending on how the rookies do but Hedberg isnt really needed. The Flames, despite most fan observations, are fine between the pipes for the time being, they actually have a ton of options right now and need to assess if theyre, well, any good!

Aside from that...if the kids can play, let them. If they start to get hammered out there playing against fully stocked NHL teams, look to guys like Larose etc and move a few young guys back down. No sense in hurting anyones development just cause. Flames have money to spend and are in no rush.

Baertschi's got me a little worried these days...hopefully he can find his game at main camp...

Agreed on Monohan....I also think that there are a lot of other guys that could use his ice time (were he to stay), Horak, Knight, Reinhart, Granlund etc.

I'm also interested to see what Chris Breen can bring to the table this season, I think he has the potential to surprise.

Ortio would be a nice surprise to make the team, honestly I had written this kid off.

I love how wide open the competition is this year, usually we are only talking about 1, maybe 2 open spots on the entire team!

I've noticed that Cammy is getting alot of press time thus he is becoming the face of the franchise. I'm starting to think he wants to stay, and is after the C.

Nice, thanks!

I forgot about Blair Jones and Lance Bouma, they can definitely bring some spark to the lineup.

....also you can add in Begin.

Yea, not sure what the kid was thinking there. I guess it was too hard staying away from chocolate cake and bon bon's.

I thought he had it figured out in his 1st pro season when Ward took him under his wing and taught him how to eat etc. He apparently got in really good shape for a bit.

There are other good UFA options.

Also, as I said earlier, I think Hejduk would be good for one more year. Looks like there could be a spot for him there.

Disagree, I wouldnt want to see him play another game. Love the guy but he just doesnt have it anymore, I dont think he can play another year, dont want to see him retire mid season bc he just cant keep up.

Even on a 3rd line he just isnt productive like he used to be.

I'm actually excited to turn the page and see what these new guys can do. Kipper hasn't been Kipper for the past couple of years, but he got a pass because of his history. Much like the rest of the team, I'm happy that there's going to be a battle for that spot this year and going forward.
