Liles, Colbourne, Riemer for Giordano and Macdonald. We save just over $1m plus whoever we send to Marlies. That should be enough to sign our RFAs, and put some pressure on Franson to sign a deal or be moved elsewhere

Can't trade Reimer just yet... Need to wait to see if Bernier can prove himself to be a #1

I dont see the Leafs moving Reimer at this point, doesnt really make sense for them and he would only free up 1.8M...not exactly a high price to keep two potential starters.

I could see the Flames entertain moving Gio, but they want to keep leadership on the team and guys who play a physical game. Liles only really replaces one of two in terms of leadership qualities.

And for that reason, Im out.

Rather not give up Colborne.. But i doubt if it came to that the flames would be the only team willin to take Liles.

Rather see someone like Ashton go with him just to get rid of him, or like a decent draft pick.

I was thinking about Liles, I just can't see him sticking around in TOR too much longer.

I thought you were trading Liles back to the avalanche for Hunwick, you know you want the cap savings

Not adding anyone to the roster with a ton of Cap Space

Lost out on another good UFA in Cleary, they have to do something!?

Savard and Pronger will go to LTIR at the start of the season, so Boston and Philly effectively are both under the cap at the moment.

Boston has $2,925,833 in cap room with 21 players signed, and Philly has $2,887,907 in cap room with 24 players signed, so they're effectively at $3,500,407 if their cheapest contract is sent down (23 man roster only).

Ya, lost out on Cleary. Major loss there. That might be the worse UFA signing of the summer.

For a re building team, you're absolutely correct, but for a team that's looking to go deep in the playoffs, and needs more glue to accomplish that task, he's gold.

We'll see. The guy has slowly been getting worse and is soon to be 35. This is a contract a cap team just shouldn't have given out.

I also don't know how he is money. One year he does well the next year he does little in the playoffs.

His offense has slipped, but he's still tight defensively, and he still has wheels. He's not worth the 2.8 he got in his last contract anymore, but if you can get him cheap, he would be an excellent depth winger for a playoff team.

Before the Leafs offered Raymond his try out, I thought they might have a look at Cleary for the winger hole on their 3rd/shutdown line. He'd be a good fit in that kind of situation.

Cleary just signed for 3 years 2.75mil, hence why I said he isn't worth it.

I don't mind bringing in Liles...he might fit in good with his former COL buddies, and if we can gain a few assets in the process it could be a win-win.

I've seen worse moves anyway....

Flames aren't trading for a Goalie. Feaster has been waiting 2 years for Ramo to get here and there is actually decent prospects in the system including Gillies, Brossoit, Berra and the suddenly unbeatable Joni Ortio.

There are also not signing over the hill UFAs, this is a rebuild, you don't rebuild with Dan Cleary.

I agree...In terms of goaltending, the Flames are looking like they could be strong in a few years. Given that they've played no one but Kipper in the past 7-8 years, its time to develop some young tenders now.
