Todd since you do a lot of CHL scouting and OHL more specifically are there any undrafted players you would of given an invite to ? Maybe a goalie who could give a spark to both Wedge and Clermount? or a Scoring forward?

A lot of the undrafted players I liked were given invites elsehwere.

One guy I would've given an invite to Petes defenseman Brandon Devlin. He's got a booming shot and had a great second half in Peterborough playing in all situations. He's got some size and edge to him, too, at 6'2 215lbs.

Another D but that would of been nice can never have to many knowing what we know about D its hard to predict which ones will turn out. Glad to have some Devils talk again I have been stirring the drink a bit in other teams blogs due to the lack of anything Devils related and it's not you there just isn't anything anywhere on the internet Devils related. BTW did you get my MSG about Larsson ? I asked Yost if he would do it after his Mark Weber one but he never replied !

I always seem to have the worse timing. Its not a big deal. I have to take the time to learn all these advanced stats. Who are you most excited to see at camp? and if you where to pick a player to really surprise who would it be ?

Sorry about the couple days of no blogs. I love college football and the NFL and with no Devils news to speak of, I decided to have a friend over for the weekend to watch it all with me.

I want to see what the kids on defence can do. Also excited to see how Josefson does in camp. I've always liked his game but he's had trouble taking the next step because he's had trouble staying healthy.

He can carry the puck up the ice pretty well he reminds me of Gomez in that sense he used to be able to carry the puck into the offensive zone like no other be nice to have easy access into the offensive zone

Always gave 0 poops about Steckle when he was on our team. Wasn't necessarily bad, was just the most ordinary, vanilla player ever to lace up.

He got over paid, you didn't get a home town discount and he won't live up to the contract. That said he plays hard works hard isn't the greatest skater or passer. He will fight but I noticed he didn't near as much when he was scoring. He loves the wrap around (the clarkaround) He shoots at almost every oppertunity, when he is cold he isn't doing much of anything but when he is on can be a key contributor. He will fit into the style of play that the Leafs want to play. I don't know what else to say. My point production predictions for him would be around 15-20 goals 10-15 assists. Oh and he likes to toe drag (it's pretty much his only move ) he has gotten decent at it. Oh one more thing since I am being honest he is a strong puck possesion player so he should help since the leafs were not good in that last year.

He didn't win us many face offs either and that is his big thing but on the other side we where keeping Rod Pelley happy by bringing in his friend

the biggest thing for me or that I question and am anxious to see how much of a part it played or maybe it didn't is how he does without Deboer. He never showed much as a scorer until Deboer took over and we all know Clarkson went un drafted and that Deboer was his Jr coach. They were close. Deboer gets here and Clarky turns into a new player so I mean it really makes me think a large part of it was the familiarity he had with Pete and the trust. Clarkson could very well just be a late bloomer but until I see a successful season out of him not under Deboer I will be skeptical about the type of player he is.

I hope carlyle pushed to sign him in that case and has an effective plan to utilize him. That's the roll of the dice Nonis took, that he's a late bloomer and not a product of the NJ system/coach.

I think Leaf fans with enjoy having him on the team and watching him as us Devil fans have but you will always be thinking about the price you paid for him and wonder if it is really worth it. When it comes down to it he is a pro and has had many coaches over the years. I just found it interesting the connection between him and Deboer and his success was it all just coincidence ? was he destined to break out the last two years regardless of Pete being here or not? or was his higher success a product of Deboer. I can say the things he is bad at all day but you can with any player, we loved him and wish he stayed but certainly not at the price.
