Hopefully for the Penguins, MAF can regain his 07/08 or 08/09 postseason form. But I just can't see any way that the players or fans can actually feel comfortable with him going into the playoffs. It seems like management just has this blind faith in him. |

This Sabres jersey is as ugly as it gets. And I agree: the old ones are very nice! I almost always pick the Sabres when I do a fantasy draft on NHL09 |

I wouldnt call it blind. They signed one of the better college goaltenders that was available (Hartzell) and used their first available draft pick (Jarry) on a goalie this year.
Signing Vokoun was also not exactly a vote of confidence for MAF. |

I said "blind" because, Bylsma, after the season, said something to the effect of, "MAF is our #1 goalie moving forward, and we think he is one of the better goalies in the league." Not an exact quote, but along those lines.
On the surface, you need to say that as the coach, just like Crosby had to say it as the captain. But it seems that they really do feel that way. Yes, they've used some recent picks on future goalies, and I don't know exactly how they could address it moving forward. But if they could somehow keep Vokoun, supplement him with another veteran (someone LIKE Theodore, but not Theodore), that might help them also open up some cap moving forward this season at the TDL. Just a thought. |

Is this hideous looking canary colored pajama tops the 3rd jersey? Someone say it's just a practice joisey puulleeaaazze...
What does yellow and gray have to do with the blue and gold? Good god! |

I would argue the practice one looks nicer.

Speaking of the 3rd jerseys, I've long held that they should go to a 3rd jersey that essentially is the 1991 black and gold sweater road sweater. The fact that that is now a "classic" look really makes me feel old. |

I have nothing against the current jerseys but I wouldn't be against a switch to make the late 80's early 90's black and gold their primary jersey. My third jersey could either be the all gold early 80's or one of the 1993 jerseys. |

It's gotten to the point where I don't get excited about new jerseys at all. I pretty much assume that they are going to be bad, and everyone once in a while I am pleasantly surprised if one looks good.
I saw this yesterday on Twitter, and it made me laugh...

I find the Navy Blue better to look at than the Royal Blue ever was, especially when you consider the fact that the shade of blue changed just about every year from 1975 to 1996. |

"The Sabres have one of the best logos in hockey, yet they can never figure out how to use it properly."
....thank you.
Way over-designed the ACTUAL garment (if you want to call it designed)...threw the logo on when they were done. |

Jerseys are certainly subjective but my preference is to be bold and vibrant. I find that the royal blue pops and navy blue is more blah. Navy blue is like if Chicago changed their jerseys to maroon and not that beautiful red they have. |

I agree that there should be a tad more blue there. like St Louis' color.

I read the pens boy language as general frustration, not frustration directed a MAF. If that was the case then shame on them. Does MAF visably pout after a bad turnover by the d or a fanned one-timed sure fire goal by the offense? not that I've seen. |

Would like to see a gold 3rd jersey. I think that would rock. Buffalo's is OK but not great. |

Let's just say the rookie forwards for the Penguins leave a lot to be desired. No skilled plays to speak of. |

Jussi-Sutter-Vitale? - IronCity
I think Vitale is slated for 4th line duties. You'll probably see D'Agastini start on the 3rd if he does well in camp. |

That's ok for now. Plenty on the big clubs signed long term. They didn't take Blueger or Sundqvist. I think those guys have a ton of talent. |

Another question. If Payerl makes the roster does that mean they would put Glass on waivers? Not sure if his salary makes us cap compliant but pretty close. |

I agree, however it did not make the game entertaining to watch from a Penguins perspective. |

It would be close, but he'd still count $175k against the cap as a "buried contract" if he goes to the AHL.
Here's my problem with getting rid of Glass... Yes, he sucks... but as along as fighting is in this league, it is good to have someone like him that can dress every night.
If Engelland is going to be a 7th d-man and have some nights off, there really isn't anyone to fill that void on nights that he's in the press box. If some random stupid November game gets chippy and guys are running Sid & Geno, there really is anyone to step up on the current roster. Maybe Bortuzzo if he's in for Engelland, but that's pretty much it with the soff bottom 6 we have. Unless you want Craig Adams to do his punching bag impersonation and get tossed around like usual.
I can't stand goons, but it's good to have a Mike Rupp, Arron Asham, Tanner Glass type player on your team for the regular season. |
