No. They're playing on European ice, this isn't Vancouver.

I think Iginla should've still gotten an invitation...
But with all that talent, it's really tough to imagine a scenerio where he makes the team
Unless the powers that be don't want too many "centers" playing on the wing...
But even still, there's a good number of wingers u could make a case for over Iginla
And even considering his "leadership" qualities,
There will be no shortage "NHL captains" on the Canadian squad

He's been one of my fav players for quite a while now...
But I don't think he holds superstar status anymore
And let's face it...
This is "Team Canada" we're talkin about

I'd be pretty shocked if Lucic or Marchand made the team. Lucic is just not fast enough on the big ice and marchand is not talented enough to overcome his lack of size (Like Marty St.Louis). I think bergeron is a lock for a 4th line role though

Jerome is on the decline.. So many more talented, younger guys.. I cant see any scenario with Marchand making it either. I think big ice or not Lucic could play a role

I like Jerome but there are too many younger guys I would put ahead of him.
I do see Lucic making the team but not Marchand. Bergeron for sure too.

Did You not see what Eberle has done wearing a Canada Jersey? I dont think he would struggle as you say (Thats if he makes it) I also have a feeling that with how bad Canada has done on the big ice that Iginla's speed at his age also played a big part even though Lucic was invited. I think at this point Iginla would be as effective to Team Canada as Brodeur would be and thats not very much at their age and level of play

Just as a foreword, this is coming from a Flyers fan who pretty much hates the Bruins:
Lucic may not be the fleetest guy out there, but put him in front of the goalie on a PP and who's gonna move him? There's always room for a power forward on a team. As for Marchand not talented enough, that's crap. First of all, no, he's not St. Louis, but he's a fast, hard-nosed guy who is willing to do whatever it takes to win. He's actually very similar to a younger Alex Burrows. Secondly, the dude has scored some clutch goals, which is what you need in a tournament like this. I'm not saying either will make the team, and I think they're probably fringe players at best. But I'd be far from "shocked" at it. And yes, Bergeron is a lock for this team.

Also, from what the above poster said, 100% agreed. Eberle is one of the best (or at least best renowned) international players for Canada this past decade. His WJC appearances are insane, and he seems to really step it up in big moments, which, again, is what you need in the Olympics.

No. Jarome has represented Canada well for a long time including 3 Olympics (2002,2006,2010). At this point in his career and playing on big ice he is not in the mix for making this team its a changing of the guard for Hockey Canada.

That's right.

The third and fourth lines are going to be set by solid two way players with speed like Bergeron and Couture (say what you will about him, I think he could very well make this team.) With that in mind, does he beat out anyone else for the top two lines? I can't see it happening. Canada hasn't had the luck on the international surface as they have on the NHL size so speed and solid two way play is going to be paramount. Especially considering on paper at this moment, goaltending seems to be their weakest area.

He wasn't snubbed, he's just not good enough to play on the team anymore.

He's lost a step & when you're playing on the bigger ice surface, he brings zero value to the team.

He was great in his day but those better days are gone & there's no way he should have been invited - not a chance!!

Lucic & Marchand will NOT make this team. Not good enough skaters!!

Bergeron will for sure!!

Nope, he's just getting older and slower. he wouldn't be able to keep up on the big ice.

No, there is so much talent that a truly elite player would have to be left off the roster for there to be a snub. Even if you took away Hall or Eberle, I think there is an arguement to be made that other players would be in line before Iginla.

Canada has learned from the 2006 Turin debacle...brought in players who were too slow and past their prime...cant happen again....

This team is strong up front and Iggy just isnt a main guy anymore...

Lots can happen in 3 months and I wouldnt rule out a few surprises in the roster...people are saying Marchand doesnt have a chance, but it wouldnt shock me if he made the team....fast with a scoring touch plus him and Bergy know each other so well...

also since when can Marchand not skate? Personally don't think he will make the squad but the (frank)er is pretty slick on the blades.

I'd take Lucic in a heartbeat on North American ice.... big ice is a whole other story. Can't really grind out wins on the big ice.

Iginla isn't the player he used to be...poor defensively and doesn't put up the numbers to make up for those shortcomings anymore.

He has 8 minutes of ice time on the 3rd line in the game the pens were eliminated...not sure why the Bruins didn't notice and decided to give him 6M

He can earn 6m, they only gave him 1.8M...if he hits everything he needs to hit to earn 6m, it will be a steal of a deal
