If they really think Hodgson is the future number one then a Henrique type contract might be the way to go. To be honest though, there's a decent chance that he won't even be on the team when we're competitive again.
I know it's a huge if, but if G&G pan out and the sabres suck enough to draft Reinhart, Hodgson could find himself out of a job especially if he doesn't improve his defensive game. |

I just don't care anymore. I wish both Buffalo sports teams would up and leave overnight. It would be such a relief. |

GARTH: Bridge Deal, Or No Deal? - garth
CoHo and the team would take that deal but unfortunately for Sabres fans his parents will not. Welcome to the poor-mans Eric Lindros.
4M for your 1st line center is good value. He's not worth it yet but will be in a couple years. A couple years after that his parents will be holding out for more money. |

Agree. Any kind of crazy over the top deal is bad for the Sabres and the NHL as a whole. |

Darcy needs to prove that he can be a GM with foresight and vision.
Ultimately, all he has shown this offseason is more of the same old same old Darcy. |

Feel free to elaborate.
Would spending to the cap on the Ville Leino's of the world make us better? Since Pegula came here all we've done is try to win the headline war at the trade deadline and offseason. And we've done a fine job but it means nothing on the ice. |

This. Best part is they didn't need to go crazy on FA. All they needed to do was addition by subtraction(fire Regier) and the fans would have loved Pegula. |

Yeah that's true. I think part of it is they feel they made a lot of changes already firing Lindy and trading key players. The other part is I think its a case of management not wanting to be told what to do by its fan base, even though we know better than they do. |

I like the selections Regier has made in the past couple drafts, but I don't know if the scouts are mostly the reason for that. I'm guessing that they are, so, in that case, I'd fire Regier and keep the scouting staff. |

It certainly seems that way. I figure if they're willing to fire a guy that everyone had respect for, then hopefully Darcy will be fired as well. If the teams really bad this year, they'll use his firing as a shield aka the fall guy |

Meh, I think they've been hit and miss with a lot of these guys. I used to give him a lot of credit for his drafting in 08/09. But with Myers playing the way he is, Kassian traded and McNabb regressing I'm not sure about it anymore.
The one thing I'll say is they (scouting) have done a pretty good job when you consider their position in the draft every year. I think this year was our highest pick in a decade. |

Seems the assistant GM has been doing the pickings in the draft the past 2 years . |

I personally like the ceiling on these draft picks we've selected recently, and I'm sure plenty of people can agree. I think that getting Locke in the seventh round was a steal. How about you? |
