Interesting interview. I find it odd that he would specifically mention the calls that he is getting on Boyle, and that he's not anxious to trade him. You could read that statement as trying to drive up the price on Boyle, and that he really does have an interest in trading him, but is attempting to maximize return by creating a picture of a competetive situation. Indeed, I am putting my money on Boyle as the most likely to get traded.

Yeah, really good write up, but what else is new. I like it when Slats starts yapping away, because he is pretty darn candid.

I agree. There was no need for Slats to comment on the interest other teams may or may not have in one of his players. Doing so is interesting.

I also agree that Boyle is the player most likely to be moved as his contract is at the higher end of the low wage scale and that other teams would find more value in him as a 4th line checker who can kill penalties and win faceoffs than they would in Asham or Pyatt.

i can live with stepan getting a bridge deal but i hope we aren't going to regret that, just have a feeling stepan is gonna have an amazing season and take away al the doubts about him, I see him hitting 80, 90 plus points and being sound defensively, just my feeling, he'll be looked at asa real star player in the nhl

I after this offseason, seemed to me that either Boyle or Pyatt would be on the chopping block. Personally I would rather keep Boyel, but he doesnt use his size effectively, almost never. You cant be that big and not play a more physical game. Maybe Ranger fans can get something going with Kistarter to get Boyle some boxing lessons?

AV isn't an offensive coach though. Far from it. He was only offensive because our team had some serious weapons.

Glen has been very chatty this offseason, either the booze is flowing hard or he's old now & just don't give a FU*K anymo.

is there a need for both Brian Boyle and Dominic Moore on the roster?

If I was interviewing Slats, that would have been my follow up question

My answer if I were him, yeah. Those two are the only ones that can win a faceoff.

well the good news is that stepan will be working his ass off and playing his heart out for the next 2 years if he signs a bridge deal to get that bigger payday.

Good news all around for the Rangers. However, bridge deals can be dangerous with a player as talented as Stepan.

I'd love it for Step to fully emerge as a first line center and be an all star, but with a new coach/system in place, I'd say 90 pts is a lot to pencil in for the kid.

With that said, I expect 65-70 pts as a reasonable expectation if he spends the year on a line with Nash.

Also need to remember how much pressure is going to be on that first line to produce while Cally nd Hags are out.

He'll get as much or more from a team that really wants a good, young center. GMs overpay at free agency. It's just a matter of where he wants to play.

He's a RFA, so as many offers as he would get for 5mil+ per from teams, just don't see him signing the sheet .

Sather really rolling the dice here with stepan

Somebody WILL offer sheet Stepan eventually

If someone offer sheeted Ryan O'Reilly, someone will offer sheet stepan, despite how much GMs hate it

Poile and Holmgren are good friends and Homer did it to him. At the end of the day, GMs are going to do whats best for their club.

Doug Wilson has a good relationship with Chicago and he offer sheeted Hjalmarsson

If the GMs see that Sather and Stepan continue to play double dutch and arent working out a deal, they will strike with blood in the water. The GMs will do this if a deal isnt broken by opening night, because then the Rags are screwed with the cap and the GMs know the Rags pretty much cant match it without instantly shedding player.

Stepan actually has all the power in the world to hold out until opening night and wait for an offer sheet of 5+ per to come along
