Nice blog Todd I had said before I was excited about kujawinski as I had caught the final period of a kingston game on the local channel and even more recently checked out every video i could find on him. Before this season started Button had him going in the first round. It is kind of a good sign cause everyone had been getting worried about the Devils scouting abilities, they might have not had much success in the first round lately but some of their 2-5 round pics have been looking pretty decent Also do you think that Lou is waiting to see what guys like Kadri, Stephan and Hodgson get before he signs Henrique and what are your thoughts on the landeskog signing and does it have any effect on Henriques contract

Severson is looking like a stud and he was taken 60th overall Santini was a great pick in the second round Henrique was taken 82nd overall

In my opinion, the Devils won't be a playoff team. But, I think the Jagr and Ryder signings, as well as Zidlicky for 1 year, were all moves that were made with the thinking that they could be trade chips. Jagr and Zidlicky will be attractive because of expiring contracts, and Ryder can provide scoring and offers a team an additional year of his services. I'm not saying these are players who can each net a first-rounder in return, but if the Devils can grab a 2nd and 3rd then it makes losing a 1st a bit easier to swallow.

For what it's worth these discussions always bother me because I still think it's bogus that the Devils are the only ones to pay the price for cap circumvention even though Van (Luongo), Chi (Hossa), Nyi (DiPietro), etc. all did the same thing.

I wouldnt say for sure we wont make it I think we are very much a bubble team and with be fighting for a spot on the last few days but that said I can see us missing but right now I cant say we WILL miss the play offs next year. A lot of people when they say this just look at the standings from last season and thats it they dont take into account that Hedberg had to play like 11 straight games and that we first in the east before Marty and Kovy went down they also dont take into account stats that point to us not having that much bad luck if we where to duplicate those stats this year. They just go oh the devils finished 11th last year and lost Kovy and Clarkson so they are a top five pick they take almost 0 in account when it come to having Schneider now or adding Ryder Clowe and Jagr or that Zajac can be a lot better then he was Larsson and Henrique can both make massive strides this season. There is a chance we could be a good team when you look at the whole picture instead of the little pieces that make your argument sound better.

Blizzard, let me just say that I'm as big of a Devils fan as anyone else, but there are times when I feel I'm a bit more of a realist than most others. I think the moves Lou made were solid, but right now I feel the Devils are kind of maintaining the course. You can pencil in Pittsburgh and Boston to make the playoffs, and the Rangers too (as much as we hate them you know it's true). The addition of Detroit take away another spot. So, right off the bat, we're talking about 4 playoff spots up for grabs. You look at other teams who have improved the last few seasons: Islanders, Canadiens, Senators, Blue Jackets and Maple Leafs. I haven't even mentioned the Flyers since they're such a wild card with their goaltending.

I hope I'm wrong and the Devils can fool everyone as they have in years past, but I suppose I'm just trying to manage expectations.

Yea for sure but I wouldnt pencil Detroit in they made the playoffs on one of the last days last season and I dont see them doing too much better even with reduced travel but I wont count them out. This time of year there are to many question marks around all the teams so it is very hard to give a full opinion on how we think we will do before seeing Corey in net and the team play with the amount of roster change

I'm waiting to hear how actual gameplay is compared to '13. a hockey game is a hockey game. So they tweak it here and there. Unless it's a revelation for NHL on game console, i'm not made of money to blow $60 every year on a hockey game. I'd say '10, '13 were good games to get. the ones in-between didn't do much for me so I didn't bother. Maybe Santa will be good to me, but I'd just be happy if he pays my car insurance for a month lol

Played the demo last night and the skating has totally improved. There's no need to use the boards to slow down and turn.
