Winner takes all. Bishop has the experience, so I'd bet on him to be the number one.

2 great back-ups. should see 50/50 playing time until one of them wants it more or gets hurt!

My brain's right with you, but I've got a gut feeling about Lindback. Of course, that's not worth much.

Let the goalies figure it out. Take it from a Flyers fan. Naming your starting goalie before the season starts, can be the surest way to be wrong.

Heck, it could be Neither of them...

Hard to say. It all depends on the defensive system that the team uses. Lindback was used to a tighter checking game, with great defense, in Nashville. Bishop had a better offensive team, that could also check, in Ottawa. He did play in front of a team that had horrible injury problems and played through them. I think you guys stole him, for Cory Conacher.

As a Sens fan I got to see a lot of Ben Bishop in the last two seasons and he is the real deal. He is freakishly agile for a man of his stature and has all of the tools required to be a Rinne-esque goaltender... keep in mind I am in no way comparing his career to Rinne's just saying he is built from the same mould; large and athletic.

if lindback can get "comfy" and make that 1.80 GAA .940 sv% consistant, then theres no doubt in my mind that i am 100% with him....although after 2 months he finally showed what he was capable of, it was only 5 games afterall. the consistancy has yet to have been revealed , but right now if lindback was continuing that game through training camp and pre season i would start him...

BISHOP: started his stint as a lightnig with a 45 game shutout ...i mean lindbacks stats during those 5 games were impressive but that poop is just rediculous...if he can keep that up and keep up the solid goaltending we seen from him with the lightning (numbers arent good, but he was by himself back there) then it is going to be tough to beat him out...

with that said, if lindback shows consistancy coming from his injury i am with him all the way

It's going to be one or the other. I don't see Yzerman making a trade, with the Bolts right up against the cap. I also don't think Helenius or Desjardins are a threat to steal a job away. Both Gudlevskis and Vasilevskiy are signed up to play in Europe next year.

No they didn't. Paul MacLean runs the exact same system in Ottawa as he did in Detroit with Mike Babcock. They're a puck possession, offense first team. They rely on good puck movers and slick passing. They're heavily focused on special teams as well. The Sens allow a lot of shots per game. Just ask Craig Anderson and Robin Lehner.

Actually, they didn't. The Sens play a more pressure game, with a tough forecheck and good backchecking. The Preds play for a lead and try to sit on it. Now, once the Sens got injuries, they did play a little more like Nashville. It's hard to play without Spezza, Karlsson and half of your top 6 missing.

I don't think Tampa's issue has been as much the goaltending as it has been the porous defense. Any goalie is going to look like a piece of Swiss cheese when your team is allowing on average 30.2 shots per game. Especially when you're young and inexperienced.

no, no other goalies are in the discussion at all

vasilevsiy needs more time hes only 18 or 19 now lol

what i see is bishop/lindback until vas is ready to come over, back up for a year or 2 and then start til the end of his career with the lightning ! thats what i hope for anyways

yes sir , but lindback managed to keep us in it, 1.80 GAA and .940 sv% when ur averaging 30 shots a game is unreal, so is ben bishops 45 game shut out and great play after that too

new system = better lightning IMO, i think we may surprise a lot of ppl this sseason but i could be wrong

I see a number of similarities in MacLean's game and Cooper's game, actually.

cooper has me extremely excited, theres something about him that makes me feel like the lightning are going to shine under him...

the amount of respect he shows for his players and the amount of respect they hgave showed for him has lead to great results on the ice and just as a relationship with the team in general

1.80 GAA and .940 SV% are unreasonable expectations. The team's defensive game will have to be much better this season. Even Mike Smith's game improved when he moved to Phoenix and their more disciplined defensive game.
