I need to start incorporating some foreign terms into my conversations. Bombproof is far more impressive than just bulletproof.

I was told by someone the other day that Brent Johnson is also a finalist. Laugh at this if you want but I trust the person who told this to me

Bombproof on this site is like what, an e10?

Makes sense that they would consider him. He's spent a lot of time at games and stuff this past season. I doubt he was just hanging out in the press box because he liked to watch hockey. Chances are he is looking for some sort of post-playing job.

That said, he does know MAF awfully well, but with his support as Fleury's backup, it's not like Fleury had much playoff success either. A great relationship is good, but it seems like maybe a fresh voice might be a good thing.

I believe Granqvist's work with Bryzgalov was mentioned in the article I linked.

Sounds like he holds him in pretty high regards. I honestly have no clue on this topic. All I know is Fleury needs to stop being a vag and play better.

Maybe he could start in Wilkes Barre.

They got a guy there though... Well, sort of. Mike Bales is a "goaltender development coach". The goalie version of Bill Guerin.

Yeah, I don't know jack about goaltending coaches. As for MAF, easier said than done. I think he can exorcise his troubles, but I really hope he doesn't

I still maintain that the sports psychologist is going to be the path towards the 2008 version of Marc Andre Fleury, not the goalie coach.

I think the new goalie coach will end up being more beneficial to Jarry, Hartzell, etc...

Agreed. I mean, we've seen Fleury play well, it's just replicating that success at crunch time. I don't like the idea of a Fleury who's found his confidence in the playoffs.

If that falls through, maybe he can get a job in Media Relations.

And I still say that a proper team defense in front of him will get Fleury back to form.

That argument became moot when Vokoun shined in front of the same exact defense that Fleury had.

Really? I wasn't aware the Penguins won the Cup last season with Vokoun in net...

Besides, anybody who's played any level of hockey knows that teams tend to tighten up on defense when the backup goalie goes in net.

I guess Tuukka Rask did not play well either, I mean he didn't win the Cup last year did he?

What does Rask have to do with the play of Fleury and Vokoun?

But yeah, think what you will. You're also probably a big fan of the Penguin's 'star' defenseman who tends to give opponents prime scoring opportunities right in the slot with his repeated 'home-run' pass attempts and then blame Fleury for not being able to stop all of them.

If MAF turns it around, I think the hiring of Jacques Martin will be more instrumental than the new goalie coach.

I fully expect MAF to have another good regular season. Post season is where these changes will be judged.

I'm not the one who implied that not winning a Cup means that a goalie did not play well

No. But you implied that the Penguins somehow achieved more with Vokoun in net than they did Fleury. But they didn't. They still got bounced from the playoffs.

Again, every team tightens up on D when the backup goalie goes in. Why didn't they just address their lackadaisical defensive play while Fleury was in this past season? Or you know...three seasons ago in the playoffs...
