Much love you guys, thanks for that. For the record I decided it was best to take it down. This blog is about hockey first and foremost. I think the readers here deserve that more so than anything.

See? Told you guys.

Now, in honour of your mature decision, here are some kittens in underwear on a clothesline.

First, I want to say thanks for the great articles. You have me checking in all the time looking for your next.
I would say Vey
I have been excited about him and following him closely the last couple years.

He put up big numbers in whl, now he needs to put up big numbers in Manchester to command a shot in the nhl. Eventually, I believe he could be a top six guy.

Jason, What is your take on Forbert?? Isn't he also slated for Manchester?

That's a really great one blk. I nearly put him in here but then I thought about how jammed the King blue line is right now. While it's a big year for him in terms of playing well at the next level, he'll probably need a season or two before coming up. Kings are being tremendously patient with him and rightfully so. I could have probably added him but I think other players have more at stake. Forbort is going to play a full season in a top-4 role regardless.

Thanks for the response Jason. We do have a logjam in our d corps. I was just curious what your insight on Forbert is.

I think we will all know a little bit better in about two years. I'd say the season following this one will be his true statement season.

Since you brought up Martin Jones, it might be worth mentioning that he is currently unsigned. He's a RFA so he's not going anywhere, but I'm at a loss to figure out why he still hasn't signed over a month after free agency began.

Damn, what did I miss?

Personally, I would say Forbort. He's a left handed stay at home guy, I think that LA would like to bring him up after next year (Mitchell should be departing) if he's ready, so a big season in Manchester should do him wonders for getting a real shot in LA.

A lot of people I've talked to are saying Forbort and here's my reasoning why he was omitted:

While he certainly has a big year in front of him, it's going to be his first pro year and will likely struggle a bit naturally due to the game he plays. He's not a huge point grabber, he's a steady defenseman who relies on both ends of the ice. Guys like Miller and Roach had huge production years so they have a lot to live up to in terms of translating that play to the AHL. Forbort will simply have to translate the fact that he can play a steady game. It will take him a year to get used to the speed and size of the pro game so his statement year in all likelihood will be NEXT season, after he's got a year to survey the competition.
