According to Elliott Pap, both got rookie max deals:

Elliott Pap ‏@ElliottPap 20h
Bo Horvat and Hunter Shinkaruk both receive rookie max of $925,000 (at NHL level) from Nux. Includes signing bonus of $92,500. #canucks

Figured that. I would imagine all first round picks will get close to that.

Jordan Subban should be higher than Sauve.

Yeah, cap hit doesn't really matter, reaching the full bonus is near impossible. What this shows, IMO, is that both players are excited to be in the NHL and want the opportunity to prove they belong. I doubt either guy makes the team this year, but stranger things have happened.

Agreed. We'd need a lot of injuries for either of them to get a spot but it's happened in the past so you never know.

How do you guys think he ll turn out? I know they talked about his size, so growth spurt and he's good then however no growth spurt where does he look to come in?

Could still pan out to be a decent draft pick. It will be a lot better if he can grow an inch or two. Anyone know how tall P.K was when he was drafted? Did he experience a late growth spurt?

Yeah, but the injuries would have to happen before the season started cause once they're sent back to junior they can't return to the NHL until their junior teams are eliminated.

I think I read right after the draft that Jordan was only slightly shorter at his draft than PK was at his. Pretty sure PK grew a bit after he was drafted.

Horvat and Shinkaruk have very different skill sets but both fill holes in the organization, great draft for the Canucks. Anton Cederholm is a sleeper to watch.

Just did some "Googling". Apparently P.K was 5'10" when he was drafted and is now 6 foot. So if Jordan was 5'9" at the draft and experiences the same kind of growth; he'd project to be about 5'11". I'd be okay with that. What I wouldn't be okay with is if he turns out to be a Keith Gretzky.

Canucks fans should be pretty happy with the quality and depth of our prospects now when compared to how completely barren the cupboard looked even last year. Gillis said they would get younger. They've certainly added some young talent.

That list is horrendous.

Not even close. Sauve? Lain? Neither should be in the top 20...

Ian, you should make your own list, and put NHL.com to shame.

Man, you guys need to wake up, jordan plays nothing like pk. His going to be a oduya type d men, if he makes it, he wont be making any hits, just playing smart hockey with his stick and moving the puck up the ice. No jam in his game at all.

Don't think anyone is comparing the two in terms of style of play.

Just looking at PK's growth rate and hoping Jordan can put on two inches like PK did—Jordan's a built guy, and a fitness nut, but he still bounces off bigger bodies in puck battles and has issues containing bigger players, and that extra hight would allow him to put more weight on his frame and maybe give him a bit more reach.

Not a lot of smaller defencemen carve out long careers in the NHL. The kids definitely got the skill and smarts, though, as you said.

HuSh with 1g, 1a, and Gaunce with 1g, 1a in Canada's exhibition game against Finland. Won it 5-3.

Horvat sat this game.

HuSh got 1st star. Hilights should be up on TSN shortly.

Exactly! Nobody is saying that we have a future Norris winner here. Just hoping he fills out and becomes a serviceable defensemen in the NHL.

and Hutton should be higher than Subban. Subban would be hard pressed to get into the top 15 for that matter.

My top 10

Horvat
Shinkaruk
Jensen
Gaunce
Corrado
Lack
Eriksson
Hutton
McNally
