Cam Gore: Pavs gets paid

Time for Big Joe and Paddy to move on when their current deals are up! These young guys can and are ready to take over.

This news made me so happy. Pavs is one of my favorite players...now let's hope we can find a way to keep Big Joe, Patty, and Boyle....all three want to play in SJ, hopefully they will take pay cuts....it'll be tough, but hopefully at least two of the three will stay.

Id probably resign marleau and thorton and trade boyle at the deadline forhefty price so like a good defense prospect or 1st rounder good one

Joe Pavelski is 29. Really good player though.

Trades are a different story, but if we let Thornton, Marleau and Boyle walk as UFAs then the Sharks will no longer be competitors and maybe not even a playoff team. Chances are though that one or two of them will be extended/traded.

So Pavelski is worth the same as Taylor Hall?

Trades are a different story, but if we let Thornton, Marleau and Boyle walk as UFAs then the Sharks will no longer be competitors and maybe not even a playoff team. Chances are though that one or two of them will be extended/traded.

Boyle is the oldest and you can still get a good return for him come the deadline, would be a smart move to move him for a defense prospect+ or 1st rounder or both whatever max return is

Plus once you guys buy out havlat, then you have 5M added on to use to resign guys like thorton or marleau who may take a paycut. Probably 6M each?

Never get to buyout Mr Glass. He will be healthy and while waking to the GM's office he will suffer a major injury that will prevent the buyout from happening.

I have to say I think Joe would be more open to moving around than Patty is. I still like both of them and would love for them to retire here as long as they take pay that is fair for the team and themselves.

Even if Marleau, Boyle and Thornton take "haircuts" to stay in San Jose, say $6M per each, that would leave around $1.7M to spend on 6 more players. Impossible. There is no room for all three, and most likely no room for two of the three. Boyle and Thornton are the most likely to be traded of the group.

Buying out Havlat's last year would help. There's also Stuart and Burish that could be bought out. We still have both compliance buyouts, you never know.
