If you had to build a team right now and could list 5 players, hoping you could get one then what would your list look like?

my list
1. Stamkos
2. Toews
3. Tavares
4. Crosby
5. Giroux

Hope our gm knows how to pick defensemen, otherwise we are (frank)ed for the next 5 years.

Shea Weber
Toews
Tavares
Langeskog (Based mostly on a goal he scored against us in the final seconds in which he undressed our whole team and won the game)

He might re-up with you guys...

dont want to give up that much for a chance

we gave up less for a name that wont be spoken, and he arguably was a more impactful player than vanek

It will probably be high, no offense intended. Plus, 2015 is going to be the year that the Sabres really suck. By then, we are guaranteed to not have Miller or Vanek. So we will definitely be going all out in that draft.

Hey, since you have that crystal ball, would you tell me the lucky numbers for next jackpot??
What if our young players start playing better?
I know, as Sabres fans, we are programmed to be negative!
It is sad what has happened to us.

In my opinion, I take offense first. If you look at teams that have one based on D-first you're looking at teams like the early Broduer NJ Devils. That defense was great, but also needed a great goaltender. Most recent teams, including the Blackhawks need that offensive punch. Granted, the Blackhawks have a good D, but is it tops in the league, no way. Nor do I consider Crawford one of the 5 best goalies. He may be top 10, but I would even consider that a bit of a stretch. It seems to me that Defensive teams such as Boston can be overwhelmed by fast playmakers such as those that Chicago has. For that reason I go offense first. That being said, you do need a top Defenseman like Myers is supposed to be, like Lidstrom was for Detroit, and like Chara was when Boston captured the cup. However, it seems more and more as though top notch offense is more important.

It is common sense that 2015 is going to be bad. You don't have to get so confrontational about it. The young players will not develop into 1st liners without the proper mentors. Even with them, it would not occur after next season. Face it, the Sabres are going to be bad for the next 2 or 3 years, then contend.

What year? 2015 MAYBE, that is if they pick up good, underrated FA's. Without that, they don't have the depth to sneak in. Young talent is great and all, but it will not win you anything in a rebuild.

So in your opinion, is Corey Crawford a great goaltender?
