GARTH: Matt Can Hackett - garth
I don't know, I'm not totally sold on his potential. I still think we should look to draft a high end goalie or trade for one. |

I heard today that Darcy is not taking back any salary if he trades Miller and Vanek. So it looks like they may not be going anywhere anytime soon. For that to happen it would have to be the trade deadline. |

Honestly, I wouldn't want him to. If they're going to get rid of them, get rid of them. None of this pay part of their salary crap. If a team wants them so bad, they can pay their full salary. This team is not a charity case. |

I do agree, but my counter to that is the difference between Vanek at 7.145 mil and Vanek at say 4.75 mil could be a really good prospect or a 1st round pick. |

Well need to reach the floor and holding onto salary helps plus we get better offers back
Also I really want John Gibson. Wonder what his price tag is |

doubt it, unless if they get high salary players back. Moving those two and not retaining any salary, and we are flirting with the floor. |

Says this like Hackett is an elite goaltending prospect and there should be no doubt he will fail. He's not elite, reason he was traded and he even the main piece in the deal. Decent prospect who played well in 3 games for Rochester but had pedestrian numbers before the trade (19-20-3 2.66 9.07)
He's one of those prospects who has shown enough to think he can at least play at this level in some capacity though. Interested to see what type of chance he gets with Buffalo in the future. |

This team has no direction... Sort of like these blogs. Imo, we should have kept leggio. Local kid with tons of potential. |

WTF are you saying? The guy has as much potential as an NHL goalie as you do in being an enlightened poster. |

I went to see the Fixx tonight and am pretty sh*t faced but I still know Leggio is nothing more than an AHL goalie.

He's 28, and put up mediocre-at-best numbers in the AHL. Not much of a loss IMO. |

what do you guys think is going to happen with Vanek? I'm sure you don't want to let him walk, but Idk if he wants to stay through the rebuild and resign here. The obvious answer is "move him at the deadline" but at that point his value would be pretty low as just a rental player and penidng UFA |
