You are right not to like the CBJ deal. I have no idea why they would do that. Johansen is only getting moved if a true #1 center is coming back. |

No to that leafs trade. Great as Weber is that is an overpay.
And on the Ovechkin thing yes he may choke in the playoffs, but at least he gets his team there. Would be an improvement in that regard for the Oilers. |

Good job accepting the Montreal-LA trade Clouts.
Really don't know what Yost was thinking with that one. |

Weber is a beast and would probably lead the leafs to a cup, something Toronto fans ain't use to seeing in a half century |

If I'm Yost, I say no the first two deals and yes to the one bringing Kesler to Washington. |

and your deals were terrible. If I were Yost I'd take the kesler and weber deals.

weber aint top 3 in the world.
having suter as his partner gave him free reign and inflated his game in all areas.
certainly still top ten, and physical with an absolute cannon, but we saw last year which one of the pair thrived, and which one was actually pretty average at times.

karlsson

keith

weber
Toronto shouldn't touch that trade |

If I'm TO I take that trade.
similar scenario. Eberle+Klefbom+Nurse for Weber. Do you do it?
Also I wouldn't put Keith in that company. Top 15, ya. Not top 5. |

Not sure why you're so intent on the Predators moving Weber. Are you one of the people who still falsely believes they don't have the money to pay him? |

That's a terrible deal for the Kings.
First of all, the Kings are not capped out, and they have more than enough money to sign Clifford. They currently have 24 players on their roster without Clifford, and two extra defensemen for a minimum of $1.435MM that they have to either demote/trade/waive before the season. Including the remaining $250k that they have left, they have almost 1.7MM to resign Clifford, which is more than enough.
Second, why would the Kings acquire ANOTHER defenseman. The Kings are overstacked at defense, even in the minors.
Third, while you may not like Justin Williams, he is exactly the type of player that Dean Lombardi and Darryl Sutter loves. Strong, gritty, grinder that isn't afraid to play the puck on the boards. He has been in the top 3 of Kings scoring for the last several years, on a team that has had trouble scoring AND he has a very reasonable cap hit for two more years. Lars Eller has never put up more than 30 points in a season, and has a concussion history. Plus, he is a natural center, and LA is overstacked at center as well.
The Kings are contenders for a Stanley Cup NOW, and this does nothing to make us better NOW. Horrible trade for LA. |

That is a bad trade for both teams. It doesn't give either team what they need or want. |

keith was fantastic in the playoffs. amazing.
outplayed chara in a few of those finals games. and has a Norris.
elite skater, strong in his own end, underrated for his toughness and willingness to mix it up.
kinda had abit of an average (for him) previous season or two, so I think most people might put him in their top 10.
but after watching the full resurgence in the playoffs, he's in my top 5 for sure. |

1. The Nashville Predators offer Shea Weber to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Defensemen Jake Gardiner and Morgan Rielly, plus center Nazem Kadri.
3. The Vancouver Canucks offer Ryan Kesler to the Washington Capitals for Marcus Johansson and Troy Brouwer - Maxbone
These two deals are terrible.
How is it a rebuild for the Leafs if they're trading three of their best young prospects/players. Terrible. |

That trade for the Leafs is a massive overpayment. That being said, they should strongly consider it. Toronto has enough top 4 guys right now to give up 2 prospects who can play top 4 minutes for a GUARANTEED top 2 guy.
My biggest issue is including Kadri. Yes we have to include something good as Gardiner and Rielly are not enough for Weber but I would hold onto Kadri as hard as I can. We just don't have any centers to replace him on the 2nd line. Colborne and Gauthier are not ready and Bolland is a gamble to just give him the spot.
Solid deal though man, Yost will likely decline but it is very close.
EDIT: forgot about the cap issue. Kadri is 3.5ish, we would have to dump Liles somewhere. |

1) You never have enough quality prospects
2) If you knew anything about Lars Eller, you'd be happy with the trade.

I used to think very highly of keith, but I think he wouldn't be as good on a non-contender team.
he had a good playoffs, but Hjalmarsson and Oduya were playing all of the tough minutes and he wasn't a great possession player this year |

Yah, because one player would win them the Cup.
The lose one of their top4 d-men and a top6 C and their best prospect...
Now they have another hole to fill. |
