I bet Green makes it this year. His all-around play is much better, and he is still an offensive beast.

Alzner and Holtby made the invite list too.

Going to be a tough team for Green to make. i think he had a better chance last time when he got cut... althought he is defensively better now then he was.

Duncan Keith / Brent Seabrook (Locks)
Drew Doughty / Shea Weber (Locks)

That leaves 3 spots for alot of good defensemen. I would guess they take Letang over Green if it came down to that.... but PK subban is there as well.... Who is the least defensive liability of the 3? I could also see none of these guys making it. They don't need guys that make mistakes for the sake of more offense when you have the other big four I listed.

I think Pietrangelo is a lock as well......

Man I would hate being the person picking this team. No way to not get scrutinized.

Green will not make it.

Really surprised at Holtby. Reimer and Duby are both better and have represented Canada well in the past.

Interesting solid picks. I think the upcoming season play and injuries will be the deciding factors. I like our forwards and defencemen.

How are Reimer and Duby both better? Holtby has posted much better numbers than both of them, it's not even close. Smaller sample size, but far more playoff games than either of them, on a defensively weak team.

Braden Holtby WSH 36 35 23 12 1 1123 90 2.58 1033 .920
James Reimer TOR 33 31 19 8 5 995 76 2.46 919 .924
Devan Dubnyk EDM 38 37 14 16 6 1132 90 2.57 1042 .920

Much better numbers? explain. Duby faced more shots. same SV%. better GAA.
Remier better SV% and GAA.

Neither were on good defensive teams.

Plus both have international experience playing for Canada. You're just being a homer.

I think when it's all said and done, St. Louis and Richards don't come close to making this team. Too much young talent.

Toews/Crosby/Stamkos
Perry/Giroux/Getzlaf
Nash/Bergeron/Staal
Coulter/Tavares/Lucic

ex. Hall

Weber/Letang
Seabrook/Keith
Pietrangelo/Subban

ex. Beauchemin

Luongo
Price

I was looking at career numbers, not last year. You'll find out Holtby's save %trumps the other two.

If defending a guy who has better stats than the two you brought up makes me a homer, well that's just weird. I guess defending the guy who Canada's braintrust picked over two guys you pick is me being a homer...

Who do you pick instead? Hamhuis is so severely underrated, it's insane.

I would go on about how green is severely underrated too, using advanced stats ala Yost..but it falls on deaf ears. He is apparently a winger.

The ultimate irony; I don't even like Green that much and have been trying to armchair sell him the past two years. But, I am still picking him over Subban, Boyle for sure, Phaneuf for sure, etc. Seabrook could trump him/Hamhuis. Doughty as well. Almost all of these guys have a pretty good shot at making it, besides maybe Alzner, whether people acknowledge it or not.
