Yeah if 8/8 if what is necessary I think you pay it. The dion negotiation will be tough because he certainly won't want to take a pay cut, and he is already making 6.5m, so I wonder if Nonis doesn't just offer him the same salary over 5 or 6 more years. Wouldn't be too bad with the cap rising.

Considering his best friend just resigned a big contract to stay with the leafs plus the 2 guys are very rarely apart on and off the ice,im led to believe that if you tossed a 8 mill for 8 yr contract at kessel it would be signed faster then you can blink..

That would be perfect in my eyes too, but with guys like Getzlaf and Perry signing for over 8, he will get close to 8. He may play a different game to those guys, but he has scored more than them over the last three seasons, so it wouldn't be out of the question...

I think Kessel gets as much money as Gomez was making on the Habs which was around 7.3 million per year. Kessel deserves the money more than Gomez did, obviously.

ah yeah, just ship ol Kulemin off to the KHL, I am sure you can overpay for some North American talent that Carlye will like more.

apparently bolland wasn't happy about being traded here. a guy i work with lives across from his grandma and she said he wanted to go play for a california team, where no one would know who he is. hopefully he has a good season here and this changes cause it would have sucked to trade those picks and he walks after a year

i would be happy with trading phaneuf for a mid 1st and solid defensive prospect, someone like brodin, klefbom or dumba (would love trouba but doubt winnipeg moves him)
