Good read Ty.
A good veteran player that has played with an edge all his career...should be a decent fit. Can't be any slower than JJ.

Iginla is a perfect fit for this team. Plays the B's style of hard nose hockey and still has the skill to contribute good numbers. Even tho I was almost disowned for rooting for Boston after the Isles got knocked out this year its just hard not to! They play a true TEAM game and play hard to the end. Good luck this year....except agaisnt the Isles! |

Just wanted to say this is a great pick up on the part of the Bruins. Iginla played out of position for the time he was with the Pens.
He will really help out on the power play. Still has a deadly shot and works his rear end off

Ty Anderson: B's get their warrior in Iginla - tyanderson
If I was Iginla I would have picked the Penguins at the deadline. They were the best team in the Eastern Conference at the time. Glad to have him on the Bruins now, I really couldn't take a full season of Jagr. |

concur. makes sense iggy's agent contacted chia first. not really bummed about horton leaving now. hopefully it's a good fit and iggy sticks around for awhile a la recchi.
who plays right wing on the 3rd line with soderberg and kelly? chia should have roughly $2m in cap space left after he signs tuukka. might be better off saving it for the trade deadline. |

I think you let a kid have a chance... I really like the look of Smith and Fraser, I think they have a good shot at playing and I believe they are both RW.... Spooner could be a long shot as well. I'd like to see Yeti get a shot at C to see what he can do at his natural position rather then him at LW where he has been

I think to start the season it is going to be Caron. I think he deserves 1 last shot at really trying to cement himself into this Bruins lineup. He is a big body who has shown a willingness to drive to the net and create traffic, plus he can play on the PK if needed. I would really like to see Khoklachev get an honest look, but I think he spends a full season in the AHL before given his shot at the big club. |

Iffy is far from a warriot. Hasn't backckecked for four years. Have also heard he isn't the greatest guy in the dressing room either |

Could not disagree more. Caron seems like a nice kid, but he's had more than enough chances to prove what he is and every time he has confirmed our belief that he simply is not a top 9 winger at the NHL level. I don't disagree that there are internal options who should be given a shot to prove they deserve consistent minutes on the NHL level, but Caron is not among that group. If the B's want to give a long look to guys like Soderbergh, Knight, and, especially, Spooner, I am all for it, but we know what Caron is by now and that's not someone you want playing consistent third line minutes every night.
Frankly, I think when the FA frenzy is done Chiarelli will pick someone off the scrap heep of what remains on like a 1 year deal. Someone like Nathan Gerbe, Brady Boyes, Matt Halischuk, or (more probably) an even lower cost guy (perhaps with Boston ties) like Brandon Yip or Benn Ferrio. |

Hopefully all getting hit by a bus. The guy has been a class act all his career, warrior for the CGY which is currently no where near contention. If you cheered for Bourque but condemn Iginla than your deluded. The guy earned his right to make that choice.
With that being said..I'm not overly thrilled. He looked done to me in the playoffs. Hopefully he was just either gassed or really wasn't a fit in Pittsburgh. I would have rather kicked the tires on Brunner |

IMO, I think he can become an effective checking line player. He was never going to be a Top 6 guy, but I think if he is given a legit look without the fear of losing his job he can become a 10-15 goal guy who can play defensively responsible hockey. That's just my take on it. He has the size and can jam in front of the net, which is something that 3rd line is going to need moving forward. |

I agree that he has a better shot at becoming an effective third liner than top six winger, but I still don't think we've seen anything from Caron so far to let us believe he'd excel in that role. He is hardly a defensive stalwart or physical grinder, and, quite frankly, he's been a minus player during his career in Providence. He isn't a particularly effective 5 on 5 player, though I agree his size (if he were to use it) and skating ability are intriguing fits on the third line with Kelly and Soderbergh. Still, I don't see him being an effective player and would rather see Chiarelli and Claude give Knight or Spooner a shot, or bring in a known quantity via a 1 year FA deal. |

Absolutely just knitpicking, but Soderberg doesn't have an h at the end of his name fyi...just figured I'd point that out.
From your previous post, I'm pretty sure Soderberg is a lock for the bruins lineup, but that still leaves a slot on the RW...I agree with giving the first shot out of training camp to someone other than Caron. I would really like to see either Spooner or Khoklachev get a shot. |

I agree that bringing someone in via FA would be the ideal option. I would really like to see Khoklachev get a look but a full season in Providence will do him well. I think it comes down to Spooner and Caron for that 3rd line role. Knight missed significant time last year so I think it would be best for him to spend time down in Providence. Should be interesting to see how Chiarelli handles that spot come August and September. Riley Smith is also an option for that open slot |

I think Spooner is the guy. He is another center who would be playing wing which would give Claude the versatility he likes on the third line. Khoklachev is an interesting player, but I question his fit on the third line (even if its just to start his career). Spooner strikes me as having the type of game that would thrive more on the third line than Koko, who may be too offensively inclined to play third line minutes in Claude's system.
I still think Chiarelli will bring in a veteran on a cheap, 1 year contract. Heck, he resurrected Jay Pandolfo and Brian Rolston (two seasons ago) why wouldn't he take a shot on a veteran third liner. |

Too many LH shots in the lineup with Spooner in there. Pretty sure PC will be looking for a natural RW for that spot. |
