We are not trading Myers especially for those players as they do not fit the rebuild plan. We want to be bigger not smaller as in Gagne or weaker like injury prone Hemsky. Stafford for Parjaavi + may work

Blogger: Just letting you know, your a terrible blogger, and most of your poorly written, exceptionally short blog, is just re-written from other articles that are easily available. Your neither and insider or a decent blogger, between you and garth, I'd rather read Diebytheblade.

diebytheblade is equally as terrible. 2 guys that never skated in their entire life blogging about hockey lolz.

Anyone think this could be re-visited?

http://www.sportsmancave....ls-possible-trade-rumors/

Rumor was that Regier pulled out at the last minute and then the Caps ended up doing the deal w/ NSH for Erat. Caps still need a center and likely won't (over)pay for Grabovski/Roy. Who on the Caps that might be available could help out the Sabres today? thnx

Edmonton and Buffalo don't make good trade partners imo.

I see Stafford is listed as a winger. Has he played much center during his tenure in Buffalo?

No. He is strictly a winger. I'd do Stafford for Wilson straight up. What's the story on Joel Ward? Not sure why you guys want Stafford, he's been a lazy bum.

You missed lack of agreement in the first sentence twice and 'neither' requires a 'nor'

why the hell would Edmonton want Stafford? Maybe to clean the toilets at Rexall but that's not worth 4M/season even if he uses OxiClean and Mr. Clean.

Yeah, wasn't really too sure why McPhee was trying to deal for Stafford, though he ended up with a similar player stats-wise in Erat (.59 vs .66 pts/gm over their careers, respectively). However, Erat is 4 yrs older and 500k more a yr. So, that might be why McPhee targeted Stafford, that and the fact we had to give up top prospect Filip Forsberg in the Erat deal.

The Caps have a lotta guys who can fill the bottom 6 roles, so while I don't think Ward has played badly, his contract seems a bit bloated for where he's slotted on the depth chart (3 mil per). He got more pts this yr than the season prior (in about half as many gms) which makes his contract look a bit better, especially in light of the loot thrown around yesterday. That being said, I'm sure the Caps would be willing to eat a lil salary to move him along in the right deal if it meant filling a need (2C/top 4 D).

I dont think the oilers would do prv straight up for stafford, let alone a plus involved.

not to say at present he aint better, but u gotta think stafford prob has relative value to hemmer outside buffalo. High potential, has put up points in the past, but has struggled with declining numbers and mediocre play more often than not.
Less injury prone, but an extra year on his contract

Id like to propose a deal with hemmer for drew as stafford could fill a hole in edm. but that extra year isnt very appealing. If we cant trade hemmer, maybe just rather ride it out and have the extra cap space next year.

I like how boston, flyers and many other teams can trade a guy in a week but lame darcy will just hang on to these horrible players for life and let them walk for nothing in return. The amount of players that Darcy has let go for no value is just sickening.

As much as I'm over Stafford, I still can't see him being traded for Hemsky.

Of the two RW's, Stafford is the younger and more physical of the two... And that recipe is closer in tune with where the Sabres want to build twards.

Now factor in that Stafford is clearly one of Darcy's "core", and Darcy is loyal to those guys to a fault. Face it, Regire doesn't Hemsky to come in as 1 yr rental, only to have to peddle him (on top of possibly Miller, Vanek, & Ott) at the trade deadline!?! What a mess that would be...

I bet Darcy is sitting in church right now, praying that Stafford gets his grove back and can fill Pommer's shoes on the first line next to Vanek & Hodgson. Stafford is still young enough to have value to a rebuilding team. But IMO, his game has gone a bit stale over the past few yrs.

Hard to see Stafford getting traded until he proves he is of some value. Stafford has perhaps been the most disappointing Sabre over the past few seasons because he is in that period when most players put up career best numbers.
