I'm surprised by all of the negative comments I am hearing on numerous forums about this deal. It's not a major commitment and there really is everything to gain and nothing to lose. The Habs need to get bigger and they will. But you can never have enough scoring. I like the deal.

This makes a lot of sense, first 3 posts are from morons who don't even belong.

people here are whiny, it's incredible

why not wait a couple of days/weeks to see what Bergevin's plan is?

truth is, I prefer a top 6 with Brière rather than with Gionta ...

so if his intent is to replace one of DD or Gio with this signing, it improves the team IMO

[Note, he also took less than what he was offered by some other teams to sign here.

A team was offering more than 4 per?

Eric, the playoffs exposed the Habs' major holes. in all honesty, does signing Briere address a single one of them? and please don't point to his playoff scoring prowess because he's now going to be playing on a team with very little size up front.

I think their inability to score goals in the playoffs was a pretty glaring hole. They scored 2, 3, 1, 2 and 1 goals, respectively in their 5-game series loss to Ottawa.

Briere was pretty productive for the most part in Philly. team went to one ECF and SCF. overpaid yeah but that wasn't a bad signing.
