I think Bickel is on his way out. Probably wants to see how much he can get on the open market after killing it in the playoffs.

It's going to be strange to see the hawks next year should they lose both Bolland and Bickell. Regardless they will still be competitive. It will be a heaven blow though.

Morning JJ and Puck...seems prudent for the Bickell camp to at least stick their negotiating finger in the wind...but i really hope he understands the magical situation that he has with us.

As for Shaw, good for the management. Heart, grit and effort guys like that don't grow on trees.

Frolik has a big tag, but he's another, along with Rozy that I deffo want back.

Only if he grows a pair of balls around his own net or is paired with a HARD ROCK stay at home partner.

Are you referring to the Darth Kane post with Stan riding through a field on a unicorn amidst a sky of rainbows? That kind of magical?

Agree on Bick and hope he's back for somewhere under $4mil/yr cap hit.

Also agree on Fr, Shaw and Rozy...

He has the talent to be a top 4 d-man...I don't know if he has the brains to be a top pairinf d-man,he is so young, and unlike your fan favorite Karlsson,he didn't play in a pro league before being brought up to the NHL...From what I have seen,Leddy has progressed every year in the NhL,and I think that trend will continue

He took a bit of a step back in the playoffs which sucked. Up to then he was definitely better than the previous 2 years as far as not getting manhandled along the boards in his own end.

That and the fact that our Conn Smythe winner magically morphed into a member of the same unicorn species during the post win pub crawls

Courtesy of Wiz from draftsite:

#5 pick:

DraftSite's comments: This is the only high pick that may be in play...whomever picks here knows Nichushkin will play in the NHL next year, and that Sean Monahan is developing winner with huge upside...

It is going to be kind of weird when a trade goes down between the Hawks and Wings, and in a few years I think it might happen...was the Chelios trade the last Wings Hawks trade?

I would think that the return would be draft picks. Bowman probably doesn't want to take on any more salary.

Hi JJ...If you recall, during the LA series you mentioned something along the lines that a friend/person you know(former NhLer i believe) claimed that the Red Wings awoke a sleeping giant in the Hawks, and that he would be surprised if any team could stop the Hawks...again I'm not saying it was word for word what I just wrote, but something along those lines...is it possible for you to let us know who your friend was that said that?

The Hawks lost Ladd, Buff, Versteeg, Kopecky, Campbell and Neimi three years ago and won the cup this year. Losing Bolland and Bickell won't hurt the Hawks nearly as much. The circus in Vancouver with the nut bar GM, the crazy coach, the goaltending mess and the refusal for anyone associated with the team to believe the window of opportunity has closed two years ago, would be more of a 'heaven blow' I'd say.

I'm willing to be patient with Leddy. Kid is still young. Interesting that when Duncan Keith was Leddy's current age, he was in the AHL. So lets remember how much experience this kid has had at a young age. It'll help him long term. We saw his game improve as a third pairing D-man this year. I think with some more strength he'll improve even more.
