Second?
I think someone is going to regret the contract he gets. Hopefully not the pens

I'm sure the Pens would be willing to take back the following :

To Pittsburgh:
Two 1st Round Picks
One 2nd Round Pick

To Toronto:
Kris Letang

Leaf's fans, doesn't that sound like a great idea? What could go wrong?

I'd comfortably pay Letang 6.5, but certainly no more than 7.
I think 6.5/8 years is a fair contract but Kris won't "settle" for that

Leafs need to stay away. They have young, cheap Letangs with Gardiner and Rielly. May not be as good but not 7.5M either.

Absolutely correct. The price sounds very high.

Not for that kind of money. Like what was previously mentioned, the Leafs have both Gardiner and Reilly coming through the system and their cap hit is cap friendly!!

You might be the only logical leaf thinker right now. Letang cannot shutdown any top lines. If your paying around 7 mil per you have to shutdown and put up points. Scary scary, let the oilers have em!

gardiner nor reilly are proven...give me the real deal any day. top 10 d-man in the league, playoff fail or not, hmm..30 teams, top 10..let me think about that one...yeah, in heartbeat for gardiner, reilly, or both, plus the 1st and kulemin likely (as much as i'd hate that part) All these can't play D arguments are coming from a small 1 year playoff sample. Calm the **** down people; players have streaks. Dude is a career PLUS FORTY-TWO. for those of you who don't recall, plus minus doesn't include pp, sh, or pk.

EDIT: OH AND WHAT'S THAT? HE'S A CAREER PLUS TWO IN THE PLAYOFFS IN 80 GAMES? 0.o....sounds like a terrible d-man to me

You don't want him at that price. Philly will gladly do it though...

Letang is a bona-fide #1 D, logs big minutes, plays physical, works hard in the defensive end and obviously brings production. Not to mention his skating allows him to break up plays that most other D couldn't. Not saying Kessel is bad, infact he's a great offensive forward but he's a little one dimensional. If I was building a team from the ground up, Letang over Kessel every time

-- with the pens having large money tied up in 5 to 6 players, the penguins would likely want: Leafs 1st round pick, Nikolai Kulemin, John-Michael Liles (cheap veteran alternative and salary), as well as Jake Gardiner and/or any of the leafs other D-prospects of their choice (Finn, Percy, Reilly, Blacker, and Holzer (meh))

Hopefully for you the Oilers trade for him then. Shouldn't your comments be on Cloutier's blog
