"Would the fans accept Daniel Briere? I'll say they would with open arms, if the deal is right. "

the deal has to be incredibly right and i dont see Briere as the type to take paycuts so i doubt it, otherwise dont you think fans would be pretty upset we add yet another 'midget' especially since it seems unlikely they can get rid of DD anytime soon

Briere? you're suggesting a top 6 or top 9 that would include 4 players 5'8 or less?

I think Bergevin should tell Brière and his agent to go (frank) themselves.
Too many smallish guys on the team already. That ship has sailed.

all i'm saying is that the circumstances would have to be right for them to sign him, but make no mistake about it, they will certainly consider him and the others on this list.

Could you see Gionta and-or DD being traded if that's the case ?

Agreed. If Vinny is looking for a short term deal, give him a little more than Deharnais, maybe 4-5mil per and trade DD for anything you can get.

In the Philly area, it has been widely publicized that because of his custody situation with his boys, Briere would likely commit to a team that is close to the Philly/NJ area. I would be a little surprised if Briere signed with Montreal solely because of the logistics. I could see Briere signing with teams like Sabres, Islanders, Devils, Bruins, Capitals, Rangers- closer to the Phllly area than Montreal

I doubt Vinny sign a short term deal.

I expect him to sign around 4M per year for 4 years or 5M per year for 3 years.

Unless a GM goes nuts and gives him another crazy contract.... that can always happen.

i just don't see the value given our current roster. i think the Canadiens have a multitude of problems to fix before addressing the things that Briere would bring to the team.

I don't get all the trade DD hype.

He didn't have a good season, but shouldn't we give him the chance to redeem himself?

agreed, i could definetly see Briere on the Islanders, it works for everyone and the Isles can always use more of everything in general

Boston and Buffalo are similar distances to Montreal-Philly.

I'd be ok with the latter if they can trade Plekanec. Unfortunately, DD holds very little value in terms of trading, so we have to come back to Plekanec. Now I know I debated recently with someone that production wise, they are similar. But I think that's exactly why you can sign one to trade the other. Many, many interesting options out there for Bergevin, that's for sure. It'll be interesting to see how much he's really willing to gamble with the season that they just had.

I really hope Bergevin doesn't even think about Briere.

Jagr, well, although I would be interested, I think Bergevin had his chance on that one last summer and he elected to pass, I don't imagine this summer to be much different.
