Well done, but isn't the overall question who would be willing to take his salary based on his play the past two post seasons?

If you can off load him, and get a respectable backup that can handle a 30-35 game work load, you'll be in business.

appropriate nickname for Fleury "The Flower" because in the spring he blooms and allow goals and opens up like a Flower.

He is in the acceptance part of the stages of grief. He has already blasted through denial, anger, bargaining, and depression.

Once again, Flyers' fans commenting on a goalie is laughable.

Its not a coincidence that Fleury's numbers have fallen every year since Bylsma took over.

A no defense system is just not going to work for any goalie.

I think the pens have to go with the duo again next season... Vokoun was great in the playoffs... Fluery was the opposite. But the last time Vokoun tried to play a full nhl season, he was injured and not as good as he was in the past lockout shortened season. He only played 20 regular season games this past year prior to the playoffs... could be that he will hold up fine or could be he was well rested these playoffs. I am in no way not a fan of Vokoun... if he wasn't buried on the panthers for those years he might be a HOF caliber goalie. Unless the pens came up with a senario to obtain someone like bernier, markstrom, maybe bishop or lindback... something like a 1A goalie leaning towrds full time starting role, they have to stick with Fluery, as expensive as he is. There is always the chance the cup winning goalie bounces back

215mike's only chance of taking this home was if you had something to do today.

I should have known he didn't stand a chance.

I'm open to giving him one more season. Just because it shouldnt effect the team's cap situation too much this year.

That run and gun style works fine in the regular season, or against sub par teams in the playoffs. We could have very easily lost to the NYI in round one, which at this point I wish we would have; not a single adjustment was made to combat what the Isles did to us in that series. NY dominated play almost all series. Vokoun played well no question about that, but the system is dangerously flawed.

Fleury is going to be a scape goat for bad coaching.

In 11-12 he played and split time in Was with Neuvirth and Holtby. The 4 years before that, he played a minimum of 57 games (despite Ballard two-handing him in the head, hilarious video). I'm not saying he's the answer, but it's also not like he's a half cripple.

thats a very good point... I'd argue that the players played differently in front of Vokoun than in front of Fluery. Thats not just from observation, but from quotes by the players themselves heard over the season and playoffs.

If there were no adjustments made, but Vokoun played better (and didn't let in 3 horrendous goals), it stands to reason that MAF is not the better goalie on the team. That's not scapegoating, that's just how it is.

fair enough... but he also has aged in that time... is he like Dupius, aging like fine wine... or is he like, i don't know, name most hockey players, who start to turn to vinegar in their late thirties
