Taking Mackinnon to play with Landeskog is absolutely the right choice. They need to trade away Stasny however and they will have a tough choice what to do with ROR.

I'm sure the Avs will be looking for a young defenseman not an older goalie. My bet is he winds up in Toronto for a packge that includes one of their young defensive prospects.

Sabres aren't getting the 1st overall... not because they can't, but because the deal would be too stupid to.

Think Myers, Grigorenko, and 8th overall (maybe even tag on 16th). Would you do that deal? If you say no, then this deal won't happen, because Colorado isn't going to trade for more first round picks beyond the 10th spot to up the value of the 8th. At 8, they're going to get a 2nd line potential player in Monahan or Shinkaruk... they need some other "potential all stars" to sweeten that deal, and one of Myers and Grigorenko at least will head that direction.

And if you think this is too much to send their way for Jones, then you're sane.

What Buffalo could potentially do is trade Nashville for their 4th (which is also going to cost them a good player) or Carolina for their 5th, and then trade up to Colorado for their 1st and then it'll only cost them whatever they give Nashville, and one of Myers and Grigorenko instead of both.

Hard to believe they'll pass up a chance to draft MacKinnon.

I still doubt the Sabres are able to trade up, period.

Sakic is trying to create an overblown market value for his 1st overall pick.

Agreed. It's a tactic to get trade talks going. They will either take Jones, trade with Florida and take Jones, or trade out of the top 3

Jones in COL makes too much sense. They are stacked up the middle.
They could however land Drouin at 3. If the Sabres can move to 3 then IMO they can get to number 1

I have watched MacKinnon play for the past 2 years. He will go to the Avs in my opinion. Time will tell.

Mckinnon is the smart pick to go 1st. he's a can't miss franchise centre. the hype around Jones, to me, make him more of a 3rd or 4th. If his dad was't famous, if he wasn't a Colorado native, i think it would be Mckinnon all the way.

but, if Colorado can swap it for a 4th, 8th and 12th it would be hard to pass up. You could walk away with Barkov, Nurse and Horvat!!

Jones has all the tools to be a franchise dman.. Colorado is solid at center and needs better defense. it makes sense that this would be a tough decision for them.. But Edmonton please keep drafting offense and forget about defense, you don't need it.

Duchene would be a premier second line centre after mackinnon I agree with this choice. You haveto draft your franchise centre cause you will never be able to trade for it like you could for a d man.
