Won't he get more then $3.3M on an offer sheet?
I would think $4M is likely. |

He can really be a good starter somewhere, but if he is signed in Philly or NJ, I don't see it being more than 3 years, 12 million at a 4 mil cap hit. |

Not sure if I want this dude in Philly...I think Mason's the real deal and a nice cheap vet to back him up would work well... |

Stamkos no offer sheet because TB was in a position to match and other teams didn't have the cap room plus picks to do it. |

the difference between a franchise player superstar money and bernier is night and day. 3 or 4 years at a 3 or 4 mill cap hit is different than 7 years 80 million with crazy signing bonuses and stuff. not saying people wouldnt do it but more teams willing and have the money for bernier |

There is a cutoff between 3.3 and 4 million that makes the compensation become a first round pick. 3.3 would be the magic number for teams to sign him. Although I think with the goalie situation this year someone might be willing to give up a first to take a chance on Bernier.
Still 4 is a little high. Looking at the salary of goaltenders 4 mill is higher or equal to most starters. Not saying that a team won't be desperate enough to pay it. Just they would overpay and have to give up more. Despite rumors of NJ and Philly leading this pack. Look for offers to come from PHO, NYI, FLO, EDM and CAL. All of these teams can offer Bernier a starting role or a shared start. They also have more cap space than Philly who seems to be in the lead for all UFA's if rumors are true (which they are not). |

My guess is Philly offers LA their 2nd rounder this year, #41 and a prospect. |

Can definitely see the Isles getting Bernier. He would either split time with Nabby or be the new #1. More than enough prospects to get that deal done. |

Columbus thought Mason was the real deal too. After a full rookie season of great play.... then 3+ seasons of crap, that wasn't all their fault. I like Mason and what he's done. But I would not takes bets on any goalie starved halucination that a couple end of year games means he's back to form. We need a reliable plan B. |

We need to be patient with this guy (unlike how we handled BoB) and see what he can do over the course of a full season...With someone like T.Thomas or Nabby backing him up it would provide a good teacher and nice stability...I'd rather use the pieces needed to acquire Bernier on upgrading the defense... |

Why would LA do this? Also, what's not to say Bernier doesn't become a Lindback situation. I'm not sold on him.
