Its because Stalberg is pretty much all speed, no finish, and is a turnover machine in the neutral zone

you mention his 21 goals, but 8 came against the Columbus Blue Jackets

Playing nearly the whole season on a line with Toews, and he only managed 13 goals against teams not named Columbus despite his "killer speed"

we as hawks fans watched him too much flub perfect setups from guys like Kane, Toews, Hossa, Sharp, etc

He is a great depth guy that can open up space with his speed, but he cant be relied to be a consistent contributor with his current stone hands, he loses possession of the puck too much, and on a good day is average defending in his own zone

Great speed, great size/speed combination, but rarely if ever uses his size. Great shot and knows how to find open areas.

Can be an effective backchecker.

Pure perimeter player (and those guys tend to disappear in the playoffs as he has the last couple of years).

Also sometimes makes poor decisions in his end.

This basically sums it up perfectly. What I DO like about Stalberg is that he has the ability to create on his own with his speed. Not many players in the league have his ability to do so. He's also got great size and can be physical when he wants (though it's not often). He has all the tools, but he has to put them all to use.

if he had "surgeon-like precision", he'd be playing. he has speed and size and doesn't always use both which is why teams have given up on him in the past.

Daigle comparisons? it's not even close. Daigle was a #1 pick who dominated juniors. Stalberg is better compared to big guys with speed but maybe not consistency like say Taylor Pyatt. Stalberg's better but that's a better comparison. He should be a 2nd or 3rd line player and will get that chance with a team like nashville or columbus or he can be a 1st line player on the oilers or leafs.

"The guy has speed to burn and can be very dramatic."

I want him just because he is dramatic.

strahlberg will find a UFA home - there will be at least 12 teams chasing him - easily 3 yrs 6 mill or more.

upgrade on boyes. would be a nice fit in a place like ny (either) but he'll end up in NJ

We have plenty of fast skaters who cant score. I rather try Nino or Strome on that line tbh.

Stephen Hawking is an upgrade on Boyes. We'll let Strome or Nino take that spot instead

I'm clueless as to how they could scratch such a dramatic player in the SCF's! The fanbase must be outraged!

I guess Phil Kessel doesn't deserve his spot on the first line right wing?

Had a convo in the Leafs thread the other day where MTL fans wouldn't trade any of "patches, plekanec, gallagher, or galchenyuk" for kessel.

so u never know
