He's a great coach. Just needs to figure out the players needed to keep the team motivated.

I'm so so on this. I like McClellan as a person....at least from the distant perspective myself as a typical fan has. He seems like a really nice guy, patient like you said with the media, and not some caustic a-hole who is going to throw his players (by name) under the bus after a tough loss (Wilson). He also doesn't force his skilled playing to try to be grinders (like Sutter used to).

But what I've seen as far as coaching goes is ho-hum. He seems either too stubborn or incapable of changing strategies. This year wasn't quite as bad (or at least as noticeable) with bringing in new assistants and a new direction on the PK (and aided possibly by a shortened season).

For years though, and no where near as obvious as the St. Louis series, he just seemed too one dimensional as a coach. The Sharks were OWNED by the Blues during the regular season - myself, I would re-think my strategy against them, but they didn't change a thing. The PK was the obvious Achilles for the Sharks for a number of years there, but he didn't seem to think it needed any changes.

He's not one to really inspire his players to new levels (as he's said himself, he doesn't think that's his job), so the likelihood of him getting Marleau (who I like, but I recognize isn't the most consistent or gutsy player) or others on the team who need a little more motivation to step up in key games doesn't seem very likely.

We'll see. I really hope he can coach the Sharks to the cup. I'd love to see the current core win it all. I'm just not sure they have the right makeup. I get the feeling if it does happen, there would be a lot more luck involved (granted, that's often part of it....getting momentum at the right time, maybe not facing a team that matches up well against you, maybe get some calls your way, avoid injuries, etc...) But I think unless the stars align just right, the Sharks will be a second or third round exit team for the foreseeable future.

Wow. Everything is peaches and cream in here I guess. The sharks always seem ready to make a cup run and it just hasn't happened. For lack of what I'm not sure. As long as you guys are happy I guess that's what counts

Lack of 3rd & 4th line scoring, to be honest. There was a hint of that when the team acquired Torres & they were able to shuffle lines, but that came to a screeching halt in round 2 courtesy of Bettman's suspension monkey & his wheel o' discipline.

Cam Gore with another misleading and useless column. More peaches and cream.

Cam why not explain that during the McLellan era unlike during the Wilson and Suter era's they changed rules to include Shootouts instead of ties, and to make OT 5 minutes. So yes based on those technicalities he is the all time winningest Sharks regular season coach. However each season he has been behind the Sharks bench the teams win total has decreased, the team goal scoring has gone down, and his overall playoff record is 27-28, which translates to worse then only Dave Tippett based upon coaches with 30 or more coached playoff games.

The sign of a great coach is how he motivates a team and how well that teams plays in crucial games and TMAC's playoff record speaks volumes. As does his 2-8 all time record in Conference Finals games.

I know Cam wants to stay in the press area and keep eating the free press food, but maybe just maybe if you would include all the facts your articles would be taken more serious.

The reason it is always peaches and cream is here is because CAM was hired by Eklund after pressure from the Sharks organization to get rid of Ryan Garner who spoke the truth. The thing about the Sharks org is they don't allow anyone to speak negatively about the club. They had Garner fired, they have had numerous reporters fired, they had Brett Hedican removed from post game shows because he disagreed with Sharks propaganda. And they have local Bay Area reporters such as whipping boy David Pollak, fearful of being fired or banned from the Sharks facility.

C'mon, you hated Garner as much as everyone else. And we all knew that he despised the sharks and only wrote a diatribe when they lost. And when they won he was just a quick write-up and post his story. We all knew as well that he was a bone deep Oiler fan and only wrote for the sharks because no one else could. As soon as Cam came along,( I hear he does work for the stockton thunder team on the side) we had an actual sharks fan. Yeah he writes HIS opinion just as all of us respond with our own. I don't even think he has the time to actually go down to SJ and ask questions. Just reads from Pollak and then writes what he thinks.

I'm still waiting for Ek to give you the Sharks duties so that we can have our own Barry.

You bet I am mad, I am mad about losing every single year in the playoffs not even coming close in the Championship round. And I am tired of people like Cam writing propaganda articles right out of the Doug Wilson press conference and the Media handbook. Cam is just being plain lazy about actually looking at why the team has failed so often in the playoffs. It's not just a bad bounce here or there and it's not just "A Sharks sound bite this year" Hockey Happens, no there are reasons which either Cam is too lazy to examine or just unable to determine or unwilling to write. He wants to keep media access for the Stockton Thunder and the Sharks.

Reading Cam is like going to one of those State of the Sharks off season things where the team makes excuses for everything and fans just lap it up.

EK, would never give me the Sharks duty because I would be honest in my assessment of the Sharks and then Sharks upper management would cut him off.
