Josi had a really good year. I'd rather have him for 4 mill than Gonchar for 5. The term is questionable only if you believe Josi is a flash in the pan and will fade. In 3 years this deal "could" look like an absolute steal.

Franson and Josi aren't in the same wheelhouse. Nonis knows this... Franson knows this.

Josi was and will remain top pairing for Nashville.

Franson was very well isolated and excelled in the limited role he was given. When the role was expanded, he struggled.

2-3 yrs, $3M per is good for both sides

Didn't we have a lockout because GM's were spending stupidly? Well, I guess they never learn.

Love a lot of the guys the leafs have together right now. Hope you can keep a lot of those strong role players - Bozak, Kulemin, Franson, Gunnarsson intact.

Asking price for Scrivens?

Edmonton presents an interseting situation. They don't really have any depth players we'd love to get our hands on...and the top end talent they do have will cost us way, way to much to attain.

We'd have to package Scrivens with someone...and hope Edmonton is really desperate to move someone they just don't like anymore.

Scrivens and Grabo could go but they don't really need a Grabo.

$3/milly per year for Franson?

He's a 3rd pairing guy.

Without a package we'd be looking at draft picks I'd have to think. Where you guys draft would be attractive to us...

Realistically it's a hard trade to make. Even if he is a back up.

I don't really think Leafs Nation has even thought about it, to be honest.

Why don't you make an initial offer, and we will immediately tell you it is too low.

He'd easily get that on the market this year...lucky for us he's not on the market.

I could see a 2-3 year deal in the 2.5 - 3.25 range of things. Dmen are just ridiculously valued right now.

tough call. Nashville lost Suter and was forced to pay weber a giant contract.. locking up one of your best Dmen for that long takes those fears away. In 3 years 4 mill for a top 4 Dman will be a steal

I stayed in that hotel a few years ago for a hockey tournament.

It's clean, but not exactly something to wow the wife for your anniversary.

Guy to guy advice: you need to upgrade a little.

Honestly I figured I'd get flamed if I went to $2.5M

There's a few in here who think he should be playing with Dion full time

BUt Leafs are hurting for "effective" D, and he took good strides his year. They need to keep him.

P.K. Subban's agent disagrees.

Seriously, why the eff are Leafs fans looking to hand Franson a cheque that is bigger than Subban's?

Has the world gone mad?

Well, I don't think we'd be looking at any roster player whatsoever. If that's too low automatically, I suppose that's that.

We wouldn't give up a 1st, and we're missing our 3rd and 4th round picks. Strikes me any combo of 5th and 6th and whatever is far too low. So that leaves a 2nd, or prospects.
