Richard Cloutier: Eakins, Hemsky, Horcoff, Etc. - Maxbone
If I were Horcoff, my list of 10 teams would be the ten teams with the least cap room to take him on? Why not force the Oil to buy me out, and then re-sign another (cheaper) contract on top of that with whomever you want? |

RNH doesn't get traded unless another 1C is here or coming back and since Toronto doesn't have an 1C this doesn't happen. |

Sure would, but who else would they move him for? Gagner? MP? Not a chance unless your sending your 1st pick.. |

Yeah I'd love Gardiner but we'd in tough to get a fit. Franson or Gunnarsson maybe... |

I sure as (frank) hope Horcoff is not following u! The least that SOB should do is bend to the team that gave him the lotto money some what 6ish years ago |

Super Sam ganger for Jake the snake Gardner . Your not getting eberle, yakupov, rnh, or hall for him. You guys are losing bozak and ganger would be a upgrade. |

Horcoff to a team trying to reach the cap floor is possible, but really Horcoff to any team that is not against the cap ceiling could happen. At 3.5M/season in real money for a two year term, his contract is not unreasonable for a two way center who can play up in the line up, kill penalties, win faceoffs, and was on a top 10 power play unit the last two years. Horcoff doesn't have many weaknesses to his game. He's just not worth a 5.5M cap hit. But for a team that doesn't care because they are working off an internal budget, the question is if he is worth 3.5M in actual money. And if the Oilers sweeten the deal by retaining some of his salary (let's say 1M per year), they could actually get a return for him.
Seriously, I would almost say Horcoff has more going for him than Hemsky does. 5.5M in real money (5M cap hit) for an oft-injured winger who has never lived up to the hype? Good luck with that. There will be so many better trade deals out there for teams with cap space as the ceiling comes down. Hemsky still has a lot of skill, but who would be desparate enough, with deep enough pockets, to not just gamble on him but to give up anything of value? If I was management, I would be looking long and hard at buying out Hemsky and Belanger, trading Horcoff (and retaining salary if need be to get some value) and burying Eager for his last year (his cap hit would be less than 200K if he's buried in the AHL). |

Well I don't know that the Oilers will be able to trade him anyway. Especially because he probably really wants to go to Vancouver (where he's from), LA (where a lot of ex-oilers are) or Detroit (where his wife's from).
You never know, we might see him back in 2-3 years time.

Well if that's the case then we could pursue a trade for a draft pick, possibly a fourth or fifth round. |

Why's that? Wouldn't Vancouver be more likely to want to send back a salary like Ballard? |

then just keep Gardiner and re-sign Bozak
Gardiner and Bozak seems like a better option than super sam.
is Ganger more than a 5 or 10% upgrade? not really

Why could I see him doing very well in Detroit? His style of game is perfect for that team and he'd be sheltered by incredible two way centers. Not sure if they really want to get any older but that could be the best destination for him. |
