Seems to me Bryan Bickell is making himself more money with every playoff game he plays! I hope they get him signed and this Bryan Bickell returns for good during the regular season. The Hawks would really have something then!!

Similar feel to when they dominated the big, bad Sharks that year. Kings are a different team at home so returning to LA will change this series a little, I expect. But great so far. Kopitar must be hurt?

I'd love for this Bickell to be this engaged during the regular season, but the truth is the Hawks probably don't need him to be to earn a top 4 seed in the West. What they need is this Bickell in the playoffs and they need it from day 1. If he can do that, he'd be worth every penny on a $3M per deal.

Shaw is to Chicago what Marchand is to Boston tough to play against and a great guy to have on your line
Great pass on Shaw's goal from Stalberg

Kings are beat up after playing the Blues and Sharks in the first two rounds
Their reward for finishing 5 th in the West
Too bad

Hawks got the 8th seed and 7th seed because Hawks finished first
I guess the regular season is worth something after all

Hopefully Bickell doesn't pull a Dustin Penner and disappear once he has the big contract.

Kings just can't maintain the luck on injuries they had last year. And Kopitar, I don't know what to think. We'll see when the season is over.

That said, I am loving the Hawks game right now. Firing on all cylinders and playing a very clean game. We'll see how the next 2 play out in LA. But if not in the cards for the Kings this year, then I know who I'm pulling for in the next round.

Agree. I do think that Bickell was pretty consistent this season as was the 3rd line he played on. I didn't see as many gaps between good games where he just went missing. He played pretty physical throughout the season, chipped in with a few goals (9) and started to go to the nest more which has carried over into the playoffs.

I was thinking about the Shaw Marchand similarities. Marchange may be slightly better skillwise but otherwise they are the same guy, those Shaw isn't as fugly. If the hawks hook up with Boston in the finals, I'd bet the rent money that these two guys have an epic battle.

I love Andrew Shaw and what he brings to the lineup but the slash to Richardson's ankle was just a stupid/dirty/dangerous play that is inexcusable. It's one thing to give a guy a little whack with your stick, it's another thing to hit him so hard in the ankle/leg with your stick that you injure him. Shaw needs to learn to control his emotions before he does something stupid that gets called and costs the team.

Lots of hacks and whacks in the playoffs, better to give than to receive, don't you think?

That's Shaw though. And I suspect he's a tiger whose stripes ain't changing. It'll cost the Hawks at some point but that aggressiveness/playing to the edge is what makes him the player he is. But I think we can all admit he's a dirty bird.

...and taking over Bolland's mantle as the New Rat on this team. Still hope Bolland shows up consistently in this series. Mostly so he fetches something decent in return this offseason.

To answer your question from the last thread on changing lines... LA will most certainly be very chippy at home that's what helped get them this far and there is no one in the hawks line up that can answer the bell except Bickel and Seabs ...Shaw will but he's tiny....one more big body like bollig or mayers or a utility guy like carcillo will give them different targets and willing partners A clifford vs tazer can not and must not happen nor can it happen with Hossa sharp. Or kaner....remember no fighting majors so far in the west....that will change. The defending champs will not roll over.

That's my fear as to what will happen. He looks like a beast right now, and he's playing his best hockey that I've ever seen him play.

I also remember the Bickell from last season who couldn't put it together, and got benched for stretches of time. I also remember Bickell from his playing days in Rockford - A man amongst boys who would go through long stretches of putting up poor efforts on the ice.

Bowman should have worked out an extension earlier in the season for Bickell when he would have been more apt to sign for less.

Not to take anything away from the Hawks last night but Quick had a bad game.

Not saying the Kings would have won if Quick played out of his mind but 4 goals against JQ is a rare occurrence.

The biggest adjustment the Kings have to make is to get the puck to the open man when trying to establish a forecheck. Every time the Kings tried to start a cycle in the Hawks zone, the Hawks had 2 guys on the puck.

In order for the Kings to win, they have to be able to carry the puck into the zone and establish a forecheck which they didn't do at all in games 1 and 2.

Dump and Chase=losses.

I prefer to refer to him as a honey badger as I did when he was brought up last year.

Marchand was v 1
Vancouvers Janek Hansen is v2

or vice versa..Hansen not as tough, but as relentless....

I'm going to love seeing those two square off against each other if the Hawks & Bruins reach the SCF. That would be fun to watch!

If I'm not mistaken, isn't "honey badger" used as a nickname to refer to Marchand?

At any rate, I love "little ball of hate." It's a fitting nickname for Shaw.

Actually, marchand was little ball of hate, prior to honey badger monicker..

Honey badger all the rage last year, an endangered species, but there are plenty of them out there...lol....
