I agree the Flyers will be looking for a goalie but I think they will have a few issues of there own to keep them from going hard for Miller. Plus they probably are thinking that Mason just needed a change of scenery to bounce back to his rookie form

He has been for sure this tourney has been a thing of whacky happenings. Not saying that cause Canada didn't medal just there was a lot of crazy things that happened the Russians getting smoked by the USA, the USA doing so well with who they brought, France beating the Russians

yea it's been all over place but that's generally how these tournaments go. Players aren't as motivated and most of these are B or C teams of what you would see in the olympics.

Shinkaruk (selfish reasons, he's one my best friends) or monahan if he falls to 8. ristolainen wouldn't be a bad pick either.

I think the main question here is if these teams Enroth is facing equate to an NHL level team, I know Canada did for sure but what about Finland and the other teams he has beaten?

Its not like he has been an absolute scrub when he has played. Trade Miller, give Enroth a chance and see what he does with it. If he fails, does it really matter, this team isn't winning anything within the next few years anyway. If he does well, perfect, if nothing else he buys you time for some of the other kids in mature.

I don't mind giving Enroth the starting job as long as his performance in the tourney does not effect his contract negotiations. That and Hackett getting plenty of starts too. I think these guys can split starts and do well.

They are no worse than NHL teams. Maybe not Pittsburgh or Chicago good, but at least middle of the road.

From the previous thread, because I saw everyone just absolutely eating it up:

I asked the same question. Because then McCormick has to make the NHL roster and they would have to send somebody down. The player that was coming back wasn't in the NHL at the time.

I think its pretty clear that your source was recently fired from the Sabres and we will no longer receive "inside info". We're getting a pretty 1 sided account here, and as we know, there are 3 sides to every story. Yours, mine and the truth.

Its funny how no longer than 2 months ago you defended Darcy because of how brilliant his track record is with making good trades (Briere, Regher, Drury, Pommer, etc...), and now all of a sudden, you hear a couple stories about how the Rangers had a trade in place for McCormick this year, the player coming back wasnt in the NHL but he would have helped us out. Now youre upset with Darcy over that? Do you really find it conceivable that the Rangers would trade us a significant piece for CODY MCCORMICK? A player that wasnt even in the NHL yet. Thats ridiculous.

And .... Thomas Vanek telling the team it stinks and he turned down an 8 year 64M offer? Thomas Vanek stinks. He's a 4th tier "star" in this league. The fact that he thinks hes worth $8M+ a year is laughable, and its even more laughable that Buffalo fans actually think this guy is a true super star, because you know, he scores some goals and takes a beating in front of the net or something like that. He's leaps and bounds behind the games best players.

Thinking Thomas Vanek is the centerpiece of our team is the problem with us never making it anywhere in the last 6 years. Any team is destined to fail when Thomas Vanek is allegedly your best player. Hes a Jeff Carter piece to a contending team. A one dimensional goal scorer who will provide that secondary scoring against 2nd and 3rd pairing defensemen because he doesnt have enough in the tool box to compete at both ends of the ice against top competition.

I dont mind the ribbing on Regier. Hes a poophead. But I seriously doubt we're receiving the full story here regarding these bash Darcy statements.

He has averaged close to 40 assists the last three years (well he would if this year was 82 games long) and he's averaged 35 goals per year on a sub par offensive team going up against the other teams best defenders. That being said, I agree with your previous statement about his value (in dollars) and the fact that he shouldn't be our number 1 guy so let's just leave it at that.

As for homer, I can see what you are getting at but in the time I've been here he has yet to give me false information so until he makes a huge gaff I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

You're taking the whole thing out of context and putting your own spin on it. Where did he say Vanek was worth 64M? As far as McCornick, it was more about Darcy's grudge match. Same for McNabb.

"Darcy wanted McNabb to stay in Buffalo last summer to work out. McNabb said no, that he had to go back home and help his dad on the farm. Not, no I dont feel like it, but a legit reason...IMO anyway. Darcy then made it known to people in the organization that McNabb will not see the NHL this (now last) season. " Homer

Sounds like Darcy is a bosshole. Majority of our bosses have been, no?

McNabb:
So here was a 21 year old whose company wanted to invest in his future and provided him a growth opportunity to improve his skills over the summer, with the possibility of a multi-million dollar promotion. He only works 8 months out of the year. I understand family and life outside of work, but your 20's is a time to establish your career.

I don't think its uncommon for a GM or a coach to make an example of someone or punish them for a period of time. Many guys have been buried in their organizations before for something they have done or said and it will continue in the future. Your dealing with huge egos and egos typically get in the way sometimes.

The Michigan State Spartan will fetch a plethora of jewels, including a scoring winger, a first rounder and a prospect on the trade market.

Maybe change the and to an or.

Remember Miller is essentially an expensive UFA as he only has one year left at $6.25 million. In other words, he is a rental goalie. No way all three of those come back. Maybe one of the first two and a mid range prospect. Think more like what Calgary got for Jay Bouwmeester.

In the Blues case for Miller, it's more likely to be Halak and a pick/prospect or add someone like Perron to Halak for Miller and a mid pick. Of course, Halak and Enroth may not coexist well at this point in both of their careers as both want/would expect to be number one goalies.

Not sure what you're getting at. Whichever team ends up acquiring Miller has a 95% chance of re-signing him. He wants to play for a contending team and given how few teams there are looking for a starting goalie it's fair to assume that the same teams that are trying to trade for him this year will probably be the same ones at free agency. In other words the offer he gets from the team that acquires him will in all likelihood be his best offer.
