would be kinda nuts to have robbie lou with the isle. if they could give up something like poulin and a 2nd then they should jump on it.

With that contract? Not a chance in hell I want him on this team. After years of suffering through RDP's contract I'm not about to add Luongo's gross one onto the payroll. Neither will Snow.

Nobody is taking that contract. I'll take a stab at signing him when he gets amnestied.

Any room on the wagon? They're slowly becoming one of my favorite teams. That being said I still would love for the Leafs to somehow get Tavares to come home at any cost.

I think the most likely destinations for Lu will be Washington and Dallas. Washington's time is now, much like Vancouver's, and they can't wait for a young guy like Holtby to get it. Don't get me wrong Holtby is awesome. He's just too young.

Washington trades Holtby, Laich, 3rd to the Oilers for Eberle, Lander.

Washington trades Neuvirth, Carlson, Beagle to Vancouver for Luongo, Edler.

All 3 teams are better. Get r done.

There are only 2 players in the world I'd *possibly* take over JT
Crosby and Stamkos

If JT had better linemates he we would have had probably 10 more pts this year (not exaggerating).
And what is most admirable about JT is he is a phenomenal competitor and a great character. He will point his finger at himself before ANYONE on the team, and he works harder than anyone in the off-season to improve. Leader and competitor wise, he and toews should be in the same sentence.

Yeah, as I said- if I want someone else's goalie, I either want Backstrom for two or three years while we wait for one of our kids to emerge, or I want to see what the Kings want for Bernier. If we're spending monster money on someone, it might as well be a big time defenseman.

In last post someone suggested isles trading grabner or bailey. That would be the dumbest move every made. It's a good thing snow doesn't listen to you. If he listen to this board we would still be drafting in lottery. My pens fan friend at work say that most pens fans watching said they were amazed by grabner. I don't disagree. He was not on fast in playoffs but I can't believe how physical and strong he could be as well.

I don't get the knock on. Boyes. He provided that vet and calming poise that roaster needed. He also was very good in playoffs. I would have him back in a heartbeat.

Islas don't need to trade their future to get bernier. Isles need to sign smith or even get ryan miller. They need a goalie that's been in the playoffs and knows how to elevate his game.

Trading bailey would be dumb. He is 22. Rangers fans are gushing about brassard and he is 25. Trust me we still have not see baileys full potential.

trading Bailey would be the dumbest thing ever for the Islanders. You guys have been waiting for a long time for him to pan out, he finally starts showing why he was such a high draft pick and then trade him? No way.

I watched every Islander game in April and Bailey was the Islanders best player. The trick is getting him to sign a new contract that works for the Islanders salary structure. One of those really cool contracts the Islanders give out that starts really low and gets high at the end with a great cap hit.

If the Islanders and Bailey have trouble agreeing on a new contract, I could see Bailey as potential offer sheet material from some team in the league, but not very likely.

And in other news....LA 2, San Jose ZERO. Here we go again....defense wins championships....period. I'm still seeing a LA vs. rag$ final, and I'll keep saying that until I'm proven wrong.

One body check in six games is not "calming poise". Boyes can score goals IF he has space and time, that's all he brings to the table. Like I said before- Trevor Gillies would have 20 secondary assists playing with Tavares, and at least Moulson fights in front of the net for a place on the score sheet every once in a while. Boyes is the ultimate passenger.

Don't think the Rags can beat the Pens. They struggled (shutouts aside) with an average Caps team. Pens are head and shoulders above all the remaining eastern teams.

No thanks on Luongo. We already made one catastrophic mistake on a goaltender contract. No need to acquire another one.

No Backstrom. Bernier. He'd be the perfect fit with this group. Get Bernier, package Poulin with other pieces to try to address the "D" or forwards.

Boyes or Moulson. You can't have both on the same line. It's not fair to Tavares to make him do all the heavy lifting with zero help anywhere on the ice except for two guys slapping in pucks in front of the net. That line has no one that can play D, no one that can carry the puck up ice, no one that can battle hard along the boards, and no one that can find Tavares in the slot.

That said, Moulson is signed for next season, has a history of playing with Tavares, and has a friendship with him spanning well before his years with the Isles. Boyes is not signed for next season and will, by his own words, be looking for a nice bump in salary come next season. When you add it all up, there's really no way he should be back, even if he did throw that one check that one time during his amazing playoff performance of ... ... ... zero goals.

Boyes will not be back. Really no reason for him to. I really did not like Garth Snow response and doing things through the draft. This team has enough prospects now. Time to make a splash and do something creative

Mike Smith or Jonathon Bernier, then bring Rob Scuderi here. 2 time winner he will stabilize the D and provide a shutdown guy. Resign Streit, lose Caulkner, and Reasoner. Watch for anyone dumping, we will still need to get to the floor.

I'd always groan when Carkner was put into the lineup...but I can't deny that the team looked different in a good way when he was in there especially in the playoffs. I don't know if just his presence in the lineup gives players a bit more confidence to do their thing knowing he's around, or if he's a solid locker room guy, or if it was all just coincidence...but I'm reversing course on Carkner and will say I'm glad he'll be around next season.
