Preparing for game 5.

Bad comparison btn Vokoun and Nabby Dee.Vokoun was playing on a crappy Florida team for him to have that many wins in almost the same time period as Nabby who was playing on some pretty good Sharks teams says how good of a goaltender Vokoun is. With that said I hope we light him up quick!

He played for a decent Nashville team for the most part, and Florida was actually good last year- that said, he's one of the three I hate to see most in the opposing net- him, Miller, and Cam Ward. They always seem to kill us. That's the last ghost we are going to have to scare out of the building, along with sh*tting the bed in period three (done), and not being able to come from behind (also done). These goalies don't go 40-0, every year- SOMEONE beats them. Might as well be us .

that's a good question. Although it's also a question I'm not willing to research right now. I will say the Islanders have spent the last 11 years practicing against a left handed goaltender, so I doubt it'll be too foreign to them

Everything has been a thorn in the side ofthe Isles for years...

Vokoun hasn't done much in the playoffs.

He will crack under the pressure... one bad goal and he is done!!!

you can add Tyler Bozak to the list...but I think Snow shores up defense and goaltending first...not saying he will let Nabokov go but I think he'll want competition for him in camp.

Haminic is a must for the Isles to continue to move forward.

The first two go without saying...Hickey would also be cool, but he's really only a substitute for an injured Visnovsky, IMO. I'd personally rather see Streit replaced with a trade for someone (younger) who can separate helmet from head in front of the defensive net.

With a 2.47 GAA and 92.7% SV%. He was on some pretty bad playoff teams.

As I said yesterday, I think he's one of the most underrated goaltenders in the league over the last decade. That said, the playoffs are a totally different animal, not just due to the pressure but the types of shots goalies face. Things are much more congested in front and most of the game happens in close. As long as Nabby shores up his game and the Isles don't allow the Pens to establish a decent forecheck, things will take care of themselves...those are big 'if's' though....

The first 10 minutes of this game are going to be the most important 10 minutes of this series so far. If Vokoun establishes himself with a few big saves and the Pens feed off that and the crowd, things are going to get overwhelming fast. If he gives up an early goal, shell shock is going to hit both the bench and stands. The Isles MUST come out with the same intensity they've started the last three games with. There can't be any sitting back tonight.

The bottom line key for the Islanders right now is Nabby! He MUST play better for the Isles to contiune to win. He has been to sloppy and it is putting too much pressure on the offense to respond. Who ever is in the Pens net won't matter if Nabby starts playing better!

Can't think of any reason they won't come out tonight exactly as they have in the last three games. But they're going to need some good bounces. They could come out guns blazing, get a ton of shots, flub one pass and the puck's in the back of their net. It's happened too many times already. They just need to do their thing and hope the hockey gods smile on them with a couple of quick goals.

Agreed. This game has all the markings of the Pitt/Wsh Game 7 of 2009. OV had a breakaway early that MAF stopped. The Pens got momentum from it and rode it to an easy W. The Isles best hope is to get some pressure and pop one early. If Vokoun gets on a roll, it could get into the heads of both teams.

You can almost get fatigued just worrying about which really good players the Penguins are adding to their lineup from game to game. First it was Crosby, then Neal and Orpick, now Vokoun. I guess there's not much the Isles can really do about any of that besides keep trying to keep the bulk of each game in the Penguins' zone and hope good things happen from that...
