Surprised he even got a game... perhaps Bettman and Jacobs got together.. had a few laughs and decided that no games would make it too obvious.

If they were down in the series.. guaranteed it would be a simple fine.

Please, if they were down in the series, Grabo would've gotten the suspension for deliberately smacking his face into Ference's arm.

Yep, I guess Betman and Co. are sitting in a secret control room dictating all plays and will dictate the outcome of the game.

Dumbass posters with this need to lay blame on the powers that be,

too bad ference didn't get his money's worth like gryba. you guys lose game 1 and are now whining like habs fans. just be happy you made the playoffs, bro.

Colin Campbell will even it out with a big Bruins win on Saturday.

Only Vancouver fans think Boston gets special help. Pathetic. Get over it, you guys lost game 7 at home 2 years ago and it was your own fault.

Here's hoping leafs come out stronger in game 2.

good write up Ty...

now if you could just get Brickley and the dink from Simsbury who call the games to actually be slightly reasonable ... life would be good.

Shanaban couldn't give Ference much for that... on reflection he would have had to ban himself for half his career if he gave Ference more. Shanahan was probably nostalgic seeing that "little elbow".

but the buds came out strong in game 1.

interesting to see if claude splits up chara and seids so the pink hat seventh player awardee can play.

What a pleasant surprise Redden has been. He is by no means perfect, but playing a lot better than I had predicted. Interesting to see who plays with Ference out.

either move redden up to play with boychuck and pair johnson with quaider to keep chara and seids together or play dougie with chara or seids. much more upside with dougie.

Looking forward to Saturday and a better showing by the Leafs. Ultimately think Boston will win the series, but it won't be a cake walk like it was in game 1.

agreed. and he had a better option too. he had a lane to hit whoever that was skating up the left wing. and he had open ice in front of him.

Just my opinion, but it looks like Gryba obviously caught Eller in the head with the shoulder.....but it can be argued that enough body contact happened at the same time to the point that there won't be a suspension. As many have pointed out, you can hit someone in the head as long as it isn't the principle point of contact. Shanahan's video will be quite interesting.

As a side note: "Shanahan" tried to Auto-correct to "Shanaban" on my IPhone

I hope really hope Eller comes back 100% health, that hit has 'career long concussion issues' written all over it. Ottawa Sun should be ashamed of themselves, clean hit or not that front page is a disgrace.

diaz taking full responsibility...

"It's not fun when you see your teammate like that," said Montreal's Raphael Diaz, who made the pass to Eller that resulted in the hit by Gryba. Eller is in hospital with a head injury, facial fractures and dental fractures.
