If Clarkson wants more than 4.5 per (and I think other teams will offer that), I think Lou should let him walk. I'm still not convinced long term he is as good as his number last year and beginning of this year make him look. Of our UFA's this season, I think we really need to resign Elias, and Zubrus would be nice. Zid and Harrold can go for all I care, and I feel the same for Tallinder and Volchenkov. It's weird that even though clearly the problem this year was scoring, I still feel like our d-men were some of our most disappointing players this year.

And I'm still not sold on Salvador as captain, but whatever.

- Marek Zidlicky played 20:04 and was -2 in the loss. Was that his last game as a Devil? We'll find out in a couple months.

Larssons a bust.

Also, appreciate your work throughout the season todd. Very accurate, unbias blogs. Looking forward to your coverage of the draft. Also, I might have asked this, but what happened to Huddle? Does he have his own site?

You clearly need to find a new avatar. Like that prospect we've got in Albany, Jay Leach

I originally picked the Larsson avatar for that draft. Maybe I should change it to Shinkaruk for this one.

I don't think it's fair to say that yet. Defensemen tend to take longer to develop, and him being benched every other game this year didn't help...I think he takes a big step forward next year, provided DeBoer lets him play.

i think its due to rangerdanger94 saying that larsson is a bust and isnt a top prospect while ALL of the rangers players are trending up and being beasts and every D prospect is turning into shea weber and all that

I know, it was sarcastic. I like what Larsson has shown this year.

I also like the looks of Severson, though he'll still be another 2 or 3 years I wager. I don't worry too much about our defenseman situation in the coming years. They played reasonably well while our offense was bone dry... though Zidlicky wasn't much of an O-Dman. With the minutes he had on PP, he should have been way better.

Next year I think we're going to see Larsson get 30 pts if they jack his PP time. I don't mind Salvador and Volchenkov in depth roles, but Greene is a good first pairing.

I don't think Merrill needs another year. He'll be on the team in the fall. Boucher will need another year, though, barring injuries.

Who here wants Minnesota to crash and burn like I do?

Agreed on Merril. He seemed to play really good for Albany.

I doubt Merill is on the team next season. We have too much depth right now. I have no problem with him spending a full season in the AHL. And personally I want the Wild to do well, Parise is still my favourite player.

(frank) the wild

right now we dont have that much depth

zid may not be back, we may buy out tallinder and/or volchenkov

so say we buy out tallinder and dont re-sign zid

*not pairings
larsson-greene
salvador-volchenkov
fayne-harrold

and probably urbom thrown in there too, maybe gelinas

while it may be "depth" its not really talented depth where its going to scare other teams or do much in the offensive zone, we need someone like merrill who can move the puck up smoothly and be a threat offensively, and help the PP

*i dont expect merrill to be great the first year or two but i do feel he can help our PP next season if given the chance

exactly. let him dominate the AHL for more than 12 games. It will only help him. Gelinas has had 2 full seasons in Albany. He has developed his game, he looked better than half our D in his first NHL game.. Gelinas is ready. Urbom is underwhelming. Maybe keep Urbom as a 7th dman, but Gelinas is the perfect fit next to Salvador. PERFECT fit. for so many reasons.
