It's make or break time. The Kings and Sharks are tough at home. Let's get it done.

On a side note, it's a disgrace that ESPN didn't have a single highlight or mention of last nights game, actually made me wish we had TSN here.

I posted this on the Blues blogg, man Howson must be having a laugh.

Yeah not happening, Howson screwed us over .......

as per the dispatch

Hired this week to join the Edmonton Oilers’ front office, Howson appears to have left the Blue Jackets in pretty good shape. But he might have a parting shot, too. An NHL rule change adopted three seasons ago after Howson introduced it to the league’s Board of Governors could end up costing the Blue Jackets a spot in the postseason.

The “Howson Rule” altered the postseason tiebreaking process, making a team’s number of regulation and overtime victories the first tiebreaker. In other words, shootout victories would be removed from the total.

Well, just have to make sure we finish with more points. Jackets can't afford to lose a game or a point at this juncture. I hate to say they have to win out but until Detroit drops another game and Dallas falls off (if either of those things happen) then pretty much Columbus needs two points from every game.

ESPN's hockey coverage is spotty, at best. IMO I like TSN but there is typically a Canadian flair over there. Guarantee there will be loads of news on the Canadian teams but it seems as if there isn't so much attention paid to US teams.

Honestly every hockey website has their strengths and weaknesses. I try to absorb as much content from all of them as possible and that's good enough for me. Actually, I'd prefer Columbus be ignored at this point. I don't want the added pressure the increased attention might bring.

Right and the odds are against us because the wings have alot of home games from here on out and were stuck on the road for 3 of the 4 remaining games

As a long time suffering Islanders fan, I'm rooting for you guys to get in. At start of the season no one gave the Isles or jackets a shot in hell of getting to the playoffs.

***** I need a huge game from Bob tonight for fantasy hockey purposes, I am good luck I picked up Tyutin yesterday and he scores the game winner! So I hope him and Prospal get me some points. I want to see a 6-0 jackets win! and a Islanders regulation win.

This is probably the most exciting race in the NHL right now.
Beauty win last night against Anaheim.

I never thought I'd actually be tuning into the Blue Jackets and Ducks this year to see some desperation hockey. Loving it.

Hope the jackets squeeze in and you get to see some playoff hockey this year'

No idea what happened to detroit. They just didn't show up last night in Calgary.

Hey Glen, you wouldn't believe all the doom and gloom on the Ducks blogs after last nights game. It seems most of them thought the first month of the season Jackets were playing and not the team that has won 6 in a row and knocked the Wings out of a playoff spot. You'd think after watching the Kings and now the Jackets play simple hockey, get pucks to the net and crash for rebounds the likes of Perry and Bobby Ryan would stop trying their fancy-schmancy moves and try to emulate your success. Oh well, hopefully they get it soon.
Nice win, good luck tonight against the Kings.

The funniest part of last night's game was when the Ducks scored in the first the guy in front of us was high-fiving all of the people around him then turned to me. I just sat there and shook my head. he got the hint and sat back down. The silence was almost deafening when Tyutin tallied the game-winner.

Actually all of the Ducks fans in my section were cordial. No one said a negative thing to me or my family. Then again I wasn't all decked out in gear and I wasn't loud or obnoxious.

They did seem to be surprised we gave them a good fight. They were having trouble digesting how often Columbus was forcing them into bad turnovers, etc. I thought it was as much Columbus playing well as Anaheim not but it's understandable I guess. They definitely want to be sure they stay in front of the Kings so maybe they're feeling a little heat?

We need every point. We'll go to OT and win again that way you get a point?

I think any objective Columbus fan would have felt the same way six weeks ago. They were so far away from a playoff spot that we were already answering questions about whether Columbus was going to draft MacKinnon or Seth Jones. No it's a completely different story.

Seconded.

Without Fowler and Sbisa I thought the Ducks would have a hard time breaking the Jackets trap and that was certainly the case. I thought Tyutin's game winner was really soft, he barely touched it and it beat Fasth 5 hole, but other than that it was a really hard fought playoff game by both sides.

I didn't have the best angle on the goal but my impression was that Tyutin may have slowed the puck down where it fooled Fasth. Anaheim certainly didn't handle the forecheck pressure particularly well and a number of turnovers were generated as a result. I don't get a chance to watch Anaheim enough to know how important Sbisa and Fowler are but any team would struggle to replace two top-six defenders so that probably did play a part.

It was a solid effort by both teams and while it may not have matched the intensity of a playoff game you could see it was important to both teams to come away with the win.

How about the other way around? We need to keep SJ at bay, and they play at home against the Wild today, so you can pretty much pencil them in for a point, probably 2.

Who starts for you guys tonight, Bob? I'm hoping the boost of Matt Greene can start a fire under some butts. Plus Muzzin will be able to open it up more and we wont have Ellerby being awful and skittish. As long as we win before the SO I'm happy, so if it's in OT that's cool with us. We need the 2 points though.

Go Jackets!

Great story going from last to playoff contenders in 1 season after just a few key changes. Just goes to show that teams don't need to be resigned to the fact that a rebuild will take them out of contention for the better part of a decade.
