As much as I might not like him, this is dead on. The Caps go as he goes right not, and have been all season long. |

Nope. Its been that way since he's been there. Having Green healthy is a huge boost for them too. But history is pretty cruel to him on that front.
EDIT: I voted Kadri for the sheer troll factor. TROLOLOLOLOL |

Fantasy hokcey playoffs have started last week... somebody just dropped Crosby today.
What's the deal with Crosby? Should I make a waiver move to pick him up? Or we he be on the IR for another week or two yet?
I'd love to grab him, but I don't really want an unproductive player taking up a roster spot, and I'd have to drop a guy like Hartnell or B.Richards to grab him... |

Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh) - Has an all-star caliber supporting cast, and another generational talent playing on the same team in Malkin.
John Tavares (NYI) - I think deserves serious consideration, he carries his team.
Steven Stamkos (Tampa Bay) - His team isn't even in the HUNT for the playoffs.
Patrick Kane (Chicago) - Same situation as Pittsburgh to a lesser degree. Chicago has other players who can pick up the slack and produce, the team isn't as good without him, but they're still pretty good.
P.K. Subban (Montreal) - Entire team has played great all season, they've been winning because of an overall team effort not because of Subban.
Alexander Ovechkin (Washington) - Should get serious consideration as he's been putting the team on his back lately and returning to form has brought them from the cellar to the top of the south east.
Jonathan Toews (Chicago) - He's more important to Chicago than Patrick Kane as his leadership on that team can't be replaced easily, he should get consideration.
Nazem Kadri (Toronto) - Has been the most productive member of the team and played surprisingly well defensively, however should not be considered just because of how insulated his minutes in Toronto are. Carlyle has, as the season goes on, given him tougher minutes against teams top players, but the bulk of teams still put out their top defensive guys against Kessel creating better chances for Kadri.
Andrew Ladd (Winnipeg) - Has had a good season but currently cannot lead his team into the playoffs in the weakest division in the league.
Rick Nash (NYR) - Isn't even the most valuable player on his team, let alone the league. With the way the Rangers are scoring if it isn't for Lundqvist they would be buried.
Pavel Datsyuk (Detroit) - Should get consideration. Injury issues this season and Lidstrom retirement had a lot of people doubting Detroit, Datsyuk has still shown the ability to put the team on his back and get it done, even when he's paired with terrible line mates. |

Crosby is not even back on the ice yet. They are waiting for his jaw to set and to make sure he does not contract a post operative infection. There is no reason to rush him back...the pens just clinched the Atlantic and still hold a 5 point lead over Montreal for 1st in the east. Best guess is he'll be back for a couple games at the end of the year to get his legs under him before the playoffs start. |

To be honest, in past seasons, I thought Tavares was a pretty one-dimensional player and maybe even a little bit soft.
Soft? I don't think there was a single moment from day one that anyone legitmately could say he was 'soft'. JT was considered to be a great offensive zone player prior to being drafted, but from his first season he proved to be an intense, tough, offensive force. What shocked me even more about him was his playmaking ability, which is in the Malkin Crosby territory.
At no time, would anyone who actually consistently watched Tavares, refer to him as one-dimensional or soft. |

Don't argue with Ek! Tavares was soft and one dimensional but was also the best sniper since Bossy. Ek said it. When has Ek ever been wrong about anything? His track record speaks for itself.

I think it's more like Mike Bossy was the best sniper until Tavares. |

I have been saying Tavares should win MVP for weeks...no one expected much from the Isles, and without him they would be a bottom 5 team in the league...
Crosby has been head over heels the best player in the league, but the Pens can and do win without him...
MVP is for the player who is most valuable to their team, not necessarily the best player in the league.
Hell, Stepan and Lundqvist for Rangers over Nash...
Crawford over Toews or Kane...
People voting for Kadri is a bit of a joke...he is playing amazing, but shouldn't even be considered. |

ah no......would be like voting Eklund as a serious hockey source. |

Hart trophy is Most Valuable to their team. It often just gets defaulted to best scorer in the league.
How you can not have Taylor Hall even on the list is beyond me. I don't think he should win it. But he should be there above 2/3 of the guys on your poll.

And by the way, this is a ridiculous topic. Tavares is very good, no doubt, but he's not deserving of the MVP over Crosby. Even with the game he's missed, Crosby is still 6 points up in the scoring lead and is averaging 1.55 points per game, whereas Tavares isn't even breaking a point per game level. Crosby is a league leading +26 and Tavares is a -5. How in God's name could anyone justify giving the Hart trophy to a MINUS player? Yes, Malkin is on the Pens, but aside from the powerplay, the two don't play together. Should Gretzky have not won the MVP just because he played on a team with Messier, Kurri, Coffey etc? And as far as who Crosby does play with, both Kunitz and Dupuis are not heralded snipers, but they go from being solid players to being part of the best line in hockey when playing with Sid. Crosby is the MVP and it isn't even close. |
