Eric, thoughts on why the Habs are having trouble matching intensity of teams who are battling for playoff spots? |

Points about Price and the lines ice-time are bang on. As I mentioned in the other thread, the players who should have been on the ice at end of the game yesterday were Ryder-Plekanec-Eller-Gallagher-Markov-Subban. Where is the merit-o-cracy that was supposedly brought in by MT at the start of the year?
I don't to be a jack-ass or anything but I called the D pairings being changed by the third at the water cooler yesterday. It's only logical really. Markov-Drewiske together can't work because both are very slow. And you want to keep the balance of offense-defense on the pairings, then the only logical partner for Markov was Bouillon. Add to that MT's love of Cube in general. What surprised me, as you mention EE, is that I actually thought Drewiske and Beaulieu looked okay playing minutes together, which I wasn't sold on.
If we stay 2nd and face whoever gets in, my guess is with the Rangers, I think Beaulieu might get to play in the first round of the playoffs. If Boston passes us and we get Leafs, I would seriously play Tinordi instead of Beaulieu and make sure he understands that his role will be to play a dirty/nasty brand of hockey for 14-16 minutes per night.
And for the two guys who congratulated me in the other thread, thanks. And yes, my life is over as you guys pointed out, but I'm just happy I'm starting this before I'm 30, would like to be free again by the time I'm 50. (personal choice) |

A positive note for #Habs fans this morning. After a nervous 1st shift last night, I felt Nathan Beaulieu settled in and played quite well. |

I don't think that's a trend really, nor do I think it's been different for many other teams cemented in spots right now.
I see what you're saying when it comes to last night and the game against Philly. But that's two games.
The Rangers, Jets and Canes (when they played) were all desperate for points, and the Habs crushed them.
The Flyers were do-or-die, and Philly's tough to play in. And yes, the Habs cowered a bit in that one.
And last night, I don't think it was an excuse from Therrien, but he was right, they had a letdown after the Boston game. |

I'm not sure who told you that "fifth-straight" is supposed to be hyphenated, but it's not. At least, not in the context in which you've used it.
