Great story! After the first ten minutes of thinking about this I agree with the move, we have no idea when Lindback will be back and Garon has not been cutting it. With Connoly lightning it up in the AHL he will be a welcome addition, he is also a much bigger body than Conacher which we need.

Thanks, and I agree with all of that. Lightning need some size up on the forward lines with Johnson staying up. Conacher just didn't fit with so many smaller guys coming through the system. Connolly is a great prospect, and I'm thrilled that he's getting his chance this year under Cooper. Their relationship worked out real well in Syracuse, and I expect more of the same here.

I don't think he's going anywhere soon.

When you're super deep at one position and you're hurting at another, you make a trade to address it.

works for the lightning, who when healthy going forward are likely the deepest team in the NHL at forward, I mean look at these lines:

Connolly-Stamkos-St Louis
Killorn-Lecavalier-Johnson
Malone-Purcell-Panik

Not to mention other prospects in Brown, Kucherov, and Namestnikov who can all fit the offense bill going forward.

Meanwhile, the goaltending and defense have not been getting it done, so they need to be addressed.

Step one is Bishop, the kid can play, trust me. He'll be at least starter quality on a good team, with the potential there for greatness.

Thanks for your input! Hope you're right about the greatness bit.
I think we'll probably see:

Killorn-Stamkos-St. Louis
Purcell-Lecavalier-Connolly

...as the top-six to finish the season. Connolly might slot up and down between the second and third line with Pouliot being the change piece.

I agree Michael,
I will miss conacher a great deal on an emotional level, and am extremely excited for bishop to prove himself in net , he deserves to prove himself a starter in the NHL. I am also sad for conacher. His biggest idol Martin St.Louis and he gets the oppurtunity his first NHL year to play on the same damn line for a while..you can't ask for much more than that, now he has to leave after all his hard work to get here and play with marty, his dream come true.

The trade makes perfect sense, I just like conacher too damn much to see the sense lol..At least he is on a successfull east team rather than a horrible western team with no help up front or future.

Great write up, gonna miss the little bastard but he will do great and bottom line is the bolts look fantastic..I can't wait to see everyones faces when we hopefully shock them with the division title!

What's amazing is Ottawa always had goaltending problems and now a rookie and two backups are great goaltenders.

System anyone???

TB got robbed on that one. Damn.

I feel them same way as most Lightning fans do. At first i was Shocked at losing such a talented young player and kinda giving mr. Yzerman the "WTF?" Face. After thinking about it, you come to terms with the loss and hope for the best from the return. True, we were very small up front and loaded with potential talent, but with this guy, it's hard not to cheer for him. In the end we got a solid 1a/1b tandem in Lindback and Bishop. Ottawa made out a little better then we did, but both teams filled holes they needed too. Good luck Cory, we will miss you.

I don't think we got robbed at all. Cory Conacher is not a complete NHL player as of yet. He projects to turn into a good if not great player, but he's not there yet. I believe it was Jon Cooper who said that he is still a work in progress at the NHL level. No different than Bishop at this point.

I'm hoping Brett Connolly comes up and does what he's done all year in Syracuse. I can't wait to see him back out there with a lightning bolt on his jersey.

Lost, yes.
Robbed, no.
Conacher is a great player, but his numbers have dipped ALOT in recent games and has kinda disappeared in others. Time will tell.

I remember from the Taylor Hall draft year the Oiler scouts after interviewing Conolly saying that he could be the most talented guy in the draft..him along with Johnson, and the superstars this team already has make trading Conacher a little easier I bet..

I will be cheering for him when I see the Senators play, hopefully he keeps it up..wish Oilers wouldve made a stronger pitch for Bishop, but I guess there were to many questions concerning Hemskys shoulders or Whitneys feet.

Seems like a good trade that addresses the needs of both teams. they both had lots of potential and upsdie.

It's funny the peralels with these two players in a lot of categories, considering

Except height...

I saw someone tweet out that it might be the tallest/shortest deadline deal in history. Haven't done my research there.
