I actually took a picture of the standings this morning, I couldn't believe they went from last to 8th , unbelievable.

Now the key down the last strecth is that they have to finish about the .500 mark on the long roadtrip.

Regardless of how they finish this season, I'm glad to see Mr. Richards is able to enjoy some success this season. I thought he was a good coach in Minne, but ended up getting the shaft because Leopold didn't like his defensive style of play. (which the Wild have always been known for)

I thought they should have given Todd at least one more year to prove himself. As it was he was given his first NHL head coaching job on a team that had little talent and he was still fairly successful at that.

Either way, happy for Todd and the Jackets.

Yes but I think Kekaleinan wont budge as far as getting a premium first line player.

I suggested this to Glen in his last blogg by saying that he might get a veteran depth forward for a 3rd or 4th.

I agree. I don't think they'll make a lot of noise att he deadline but perhaps a depth move of some sort. The big guns that might be available in trade now are way too expensive for Columbus. My guess is he's far more likely to ride it out with the group he has here now that they are getting healthy again.

It's a longshot but potential targets that could be available at that price:

Torres, Raffi (he was excellent for us last time)
Kobasew, Chuck (he could replace Dorsett)
Hecht, Jochen (he could play on the 4th line at left wing with Mckenzie and Boll)
Crombeen, B.J. (Kekalainen must know him well from his days with the Blues)

I wrote a couple blogs ago that I had already started composing a piece about how unfair it would be to Richards if he were to be fired here in Columbus. Expectations with new GM is that he would want to bring in his own guy. But with the hot streak Columbus has put together and with how they've played for much of the season I don't think he'll make a change. Richards and his crew have done a terrific job worthy of some Jack Adams attention.

Dreger tweeted that Clb is ready to part with one of the first pick for the playoffs push.

I suggest Eller + Ellis for Columbus 1st.

I think Pomminville is the player we should be targeting. Still a young 30, provides leadership and scoring. He would fit in real nice. Think he's gotten a bad rap in Buffalo.

I think Pomminville wouldn't be a bad fit. He does seem to remind me of RJ Umberger though. Do we want another guy like that? I guess if he scores 25 goals then that would be fine.

Not familiar with Ellis. I do like Eller from what I have seen in limited exposure this year. For obvious reasons I'd prefer to move the LA pick though if Columbus decides to make a deal.

Honestly that scares me a bit for Todd. Because in his last(2nd) season with Minne, the Wild made a late season push to try and make the playoffs but fell just shy. Rumor had it that Leopold/Fletcher were not happy with the defensive minded Richards even though they hadn't given him a ton of talent to work with. Enter Mike Yeo, just coming off an appearance in the Calder Cup championship with the Aeros, Fletcher was enamored with Yeo, hence Richards was history barely two seasons after Fletcher had hired him.

But, he seems to be having a bit more success in his second season there with Columbus, so maybe they perform well enough to make the playoffs and Todd will save his own job this time.

Unrelated, can you give a shout out to Mark Letestu. I LOVE this guy's game
Game right now. So, so underrated, especial for a guy who was a healthy scratch at times last year and this year. He reminds me a lot of Pomminville when
He just started out. Pomminville was waived and cleared for Pete's sake.
