Here's a question;

Why is Byfuglien near the top of the rumor chart?

Because there are teams that want him and talk about him. Apparently.

He is not being shopped.

Jets may make the playoffs but are in no way ready to make a big run. Hainsey has played better than expected this season...(contract year...cough), and will get overpaid this summer. As long as we can get a 2nd or more...(Johhny O got a 2nd and 3rd), we have to move him for our future. Kulda was signed as insurance and Trouba would just be icing. Our time isn't now and we should be selling peices that don't fit the future.

Ott is going to cost a team the moon, so no, he is not available unless it's a dramatic overpayment.

You've got the Jets' old logo up--any chance the team wears the old sweaters occasionally? On "throwback" night? Or are those the Coyotes' "property"? I know the new owenership wanted distance themselves from the old Jets, though the fans were another story.

I love Winnipeg--went on my honeymoon there! Well, that wasn't the destination, but spent a few nights there way back when.

True North Sports and Entertainment owns the trademark and logo rights to the old Jets logo. It will be out as a third some time, maybe next year but I suspect 14-15 season or for the Heritage Classic rumoured to be happening in late 2015 or spring 2016

It's speculation nothing more based on needs, holes, contracts etc.

They certainly are no match for Pittsburgh or Boston, but they can beat any of the other teams currently in the playoffs in a 7 game series. Pavelec looked fantastic last night, it's all about him in the playoffs.

I agree no selling of the major pieces and I don't think it will happen. My opinion is that you will see very little movement from the Jets at this deadline.

In terms of 2nd line centres, what about Derek Roy out of Dallas or Mike Ribeiro out of Washington? Reports say both are available should a team come calling and will be decent offensive options for a team like the Jets. What do you all think?

I actually think they can beat Pittsburgh; any team can take on the Penguins in playoff hockey so long as they don't give up too many power plays. If the Jets have a full power line up, they will probably not be a team you want to give up too many power plays to either.

Can't see Ballard being anymore of an answer than Tangradi.

No one can say for certainty that a player isn't available.. I'm sure he isn't being "shopped" but if the right offer comes around... he would be dealt.

At this point I'm sure management realizes they are at least a few years away from contending.. and would look at getting some quality prospects ahead of a giant linebacker clogging the neutral zone.

And I think buff is a solid player for the role he plays... its just a team like the jets.. I imagine the only "untouchables" would be Kane.. Ladd.. and Bogs.

Just my opinion

When everyone is healthy.. Pittsburgh is the scariest team in the league. And over the last couple week... you are starting to see what they look like when they aren't letting in 5 goals a game makes it even scarier. The 4th line is a little... meh.. but who even cares about the 4th line. If MAF and Vokoun can play half decent.. this team is going to the finals.

I think Buff is in their plans long term. And I agree with you on the 'right offer' anything can happen.

I don't know that Stajan would be my first choice, but I really like the way that Stempniak has played this year. I guess the issue is, what do we give up? The Flames want picks and prospects. We don't want to give up our picks, and we don't have much in the way of prospects? I guess unless we're flipping our returns for guys like Hainsey, etc.

Anyone think a guy like Milan Hejduk has enough in the tank for a run? Might help out on the RW for the rest of the year?

If the Jets become buyers what are they willing to move as far as prospects and draft picks.

Most teams that will be sellers, aren't looking to take on players that will be UFA's like Hainsey or Antropov.

For the right return is a Scheifelle availble? Is the first round pick available?
