There were rebounds that came off of Miller, but he was great on second chance opportunities, and without him, the Sabres would've been blown out of the water by the second period.

i recall we were saying the same thing last week as well...
more than 6 periods of hockey, control of the play, and 3 goals on 2 different goalies. i think saying that the Sabres would have been blown out of the water is a bit simplistic. they were stumped by 2 goalies not playing very well this year (on what is an awful, awful hockey team). just because we outshot and outplayed them, doesn't mean there isn't some cause for concern. 3 points out of 6 with a schedule like that is quite unimpressive.

That's a good move. Faceoffs and PK needed improvement. Claiming Halpern cost you nothing to improve this aspect of the team.

Rangers had a pretty mediocre PK with Halpern in their lineup so i question how much he'll improve it, aside from winning a few more draws here and there. and i'm not sure if that aspect alone warrants a spot in the lineup.
