Bill,

Thanks for the update. With your hockey IQ and levelheaded ness, it would be really awesome to read an "If I were the the Flyers GM for the next 6 months I would..." Article By Bill Meltzer.

Assume that the other teams would make proposed deals, obviously no OEL for Rinaldo trades. Why you would make a deal, why they would? Who would you draft and why? Who would you keep and why? Who would you extend? What the team would look like when you are done? How would you structure the team and why? Who would coach and what style would you play?

Any interest?

Thanks, Bill. After that read, I am once again flabbergasted that the Flyers haven't drafted a defenseman since 1871.

He's a solid physical stay at home defenseman. But unless the team is moving Grossmann or L Schenn. He's not the type of defenseman the team needs. We need to add some more puck skilled defenseman to the back end.

Until they start drafting defenseman aplomb. The Organization is doomed.

Yeah... and had the Flyers been drafting defensemen in the first round all this time, only to see them pan out after 5 years instead of 2 or 3 like their forwards, the impatient fan base would be complaining about that (especially if later-round defensemen develop faster/better). Also, the impatient owner would be making sure they get traded to keep this team contending year in and year out.

Indeed, every time an NHL GM is fired I am stunned no one from this board is hired. Stunned.

Also heard once again the Flyers pushed hard for Byfuglien (Ek).

Whats the obsession with adding him?

Well as a charter member of DMD (Draft More D) I was much happier with the back end of 2012 than previous years. I prefer to think that Holmgren woke up one day last year, jumped on HB and was blown away from the infallible logic presented by DMD and recognized the error of his ways.

Now Paul, this year offensive minded d instead of stay at home d, and early round talent.
