I doubt Ott's going anywhere soon. If Darcy trades him, there will be a revolt at the FN center. |

Ott is NOT on the table.
We need more players like him, not less. |

I love some of the names in the Montreal deal. But as you stated, something like that, if it's a multiplayer deal, would be too risky to do, especially with the play of both times. Offseason would be the time. While I don't want to give up Leddy, with some of the names mentioned, I could definitely move him, especially to the East. |

I don't see McClement being traded. The Leafs just signed him this past off-season and he's our best penalty killer and has proven to be very valuable. |

Martin is EXACLTY what the Hawks need & having watched him in Junior lets make it happen. As for Leddy I think Bowmans love for this kid will keep him in the Indian head long term. |

As a Habs fan I have never heard a peep about Leddy and to be honest I am not sure why would we want him. I know this is a BlackHawks post but the Habs need is a physical depth player because we already have a surplus of left handed and "offensive"D-men.
Right now the habs are the highest scoring defensive unit, thanks largely to Subban, but they lack in a big physical, clear the net type of guy.
I have heard many rumours since the offseason however that the Habs are heavily interested in Hjarlmasson. There is absolutely no way that Pacioretty is included however. He is our biggest and best winger n the team and a main reason why management decided to resign Desharnais. |

Wow, early one, eh? Thanks! Gonna jump right in with this one even before I finish the whole article, cuz I think it hits home BIG time.
While some Hawk fans might turn their “cultured” noses up at meat and potatoes players like Martin, McClement, and Thompson, these are the kinds of tough role players GMs love—and ask about at this time of year.
And that highlighted word is key! I couldn't care less about the cultured types. Cuz they're more than likely bandwagoners and Chelsea Daggar Dancers.
I'm all for meat & potatoes.
Now I gotta get back and watch my kids' flight to FLA ... live. |

Pittsburgh NEEDS Nate Thompson much more than the Hawks do. |

Nonsense. Everyone - and I mean everyone - has a price. If SB thinks Ott is THE KEY and SB is WILLING to pay, BUF will play.
As JJ pointed out, SB knows he may have to overpay given the 'Hawks status & needs. Now, will Ott go [anywhere] especially here? Don't know, to probably not.
But there IS a price for Ott and a couple hundred other players. But who is willing to pay it will determine how many moves are made. |

Cant see the habs dealing for Leddy especially if Emelin is going the other way...hes the only guy on our team that has good size (over 220lbs) and thats willing to hit everything that moves. Also if the habs deal Emelin, theyll prob deal Markov as well which doesnt make sense because he doesnt have much value outside of the habs.
With Subban, Markov, Diaz and Beaulieu, the habs dont need anymore puck movers unless one of the first 3 gets traded.
Max Pac and Eller dont make sense either with our lineup of smurfs up front...
The one guy I can see the habs going after is Brian Bickell but I doubt you guys want to give him up. |

Meat & Potatoes is exaclty what the team needs as playoff hockey will be a short run if changes aren't made to this roster. Not major changes but tweaks..... |

The type of move I can actually see Montreal try to make would be sending Travis Moen back to the Backhawks in exchange for a guy like Bickell.

You got it. Think we're all on the same page here regarding the 'Hawks. Lot's of skill, TONS of skill. Now they need the grinders with GRIT. - blackhawk24
Grinders like Colton Orr? Matt Cooke?
What kinda "meat & potato's" guys?

Before the season, I was concerned about how much the Hawks were counting on players who had never really proved that they were SC-contending-contributers because they had never really done it before.
So far, just about all of them have proven to be solid regular season contributors.
But: look at how many Hawks haven't done much in the play-offs yet - I.e., they haven't won any NHL play-off series:
Saad
Shaw
Stalburg
Bickel
Kruger
Bollig
Frolik
Hayes (if he sticks)
Leddy
Crawford
Good experience at defense, but your entire third and fourth lines, and your go-to goalie, (plus Saad) have yet to succeed in the season that counts - playing well now, all of them, but everyone knows how different the play-offs are.

I can't see Leddy being dealt this year. Well, summertime maybe. But it's pretty apparent that he's the #1 option to run the PP these days. And I don't see them dealing that away before the playoffs. Afterwards......perhaps
I also agree that I doubt Jay McClement is going anywhere. Toronto likes him and is in a playoff push. Unless it's a genuine hockey trade where the Hawks trade value back. But what exactly is that?
I guess Matt Martin falls under that tree too. The Islanders are in the playoff hunt. ( That's weird to type.....) but maybe. Nate Thompson doesn't do much for me but I admit to not watching much Lightning hockey beside Stamkos highlight reels.
These are the right types of players, I just don't know if these are the right names. |
