So what do u guys think the Sharks should do?

Is it time to make MAJOR moves & trade guys like Thornton or Marleau or Boyle, or all three?

Or do you guys continue to "shake things up" making lateral moves?

Pominville for Pavelski?

We need a center that can win faceoffs and play defense...
Pominville will add a little more scoring for you, ESP if he plays w Thornton... He'd be a 30+ goal scorer for sure... And is a fairly decent all-around player

That seems to be the big problem in San Jose right now. I think they just don't know which way they should go yet. I was reading on twitter earlier (I can't remember who it was that tweeted it) that, the last time the Sharks missed the playoffs, their season seat renewal numbers took a massive hit. I guess that's the problem with such a fickle fanbase. Sure, they have their loyal fans, but not a lot of people are going to pay to watch a losing hockey team in a place like California where hockey is considered a secondary sport. In a place like Edmonton (just drawing from my own experience here), the team can go through a full-blown rebuild and suck for 3 years without being hurt financially because hockey is everything here. A 30th place Oilers team will still sell out every game. They don't really have that option in San Jose, and I think that's the thing that is scaring them away from just blowing it up.

That being said, I personally don't believe a full blown rebuild is the answer in San Jose. However, the core of their team is getting very old, and their prospect pool is looking pretty bleak. Some moves definitely need to be made. I'd start by moving Ryane Clowe for a solid forward prospect and a top 6 defensemen, then I'd move Douglas Murray. If Dan Boyle had to go, then I would move him to an Eastern team for a younger player. Maybe a forward like Jakob Silfverberg out of Ottawa? Or Simon Despres on D from Pittsburgh? Just a random thought. If Pavelski was available, though, I'd love to have him. A lot of teams would.

Time to blow it off?

And no, Clowe wouldn't fetch top prospect and a 1st.

Not sure it makes much sense for the Sharks to try and keep this going for another year. If you look closely you will see there is very little difference in the old and tired Sharks and the old and tired Flames.

They're not blowing anything up. All they have to do is sneak into 8th place and anything can happen. They're actually in 8th place right now, and they almost came back tonight. No team in a playoff position/race is thinking about blowing it up, they're thinking about how to get over the hump.

keep the youth, trade the vets, do not know what you have in prospects but build around Pavelski & Couture...
